I dont want to show my bias here but I wonder what Pinellas problem with Reed Johnson and the starting job in left field is? Johnson is a great fielder and can hit and run well.. He works the counts and sees a lot of pitches and the Cubs seem to win with him in the lineup. Please express who you want to see starting in left field

I think the Cubs have realized that Johnson excels when he's a part time player.  So, they want to keep him platooning with Edmonds in center right now since they are both flourishing under this arragement.  Johnson is coming off a back injury (from last year), so playing him every day could be detrimental

But I understand your argument.

I think they'll use the revolving door of Johnson getting a spot start, DeRosa, Murton (now that he's been called up), Hoffpauir, etc.  While I don't necessarily agree with that method, I understand it as well, since they can give Fontenot or Cedeno a spot start and still keep DeRosa's bat in the line-up.  If someone gets hot, they'll stick with them.

I think Lou has a real good handle on this. By using Johnson in left sparingly, he keeps him fresh to play center on days when lefties are throwing against them. This gives him some rest as well. It also opens up time for Micah and Matt to get some swings. Lou has been doing a great job of resting his guys the last few days and getting some of the bench guys some work. Good job Lou!!!

Murton, when he's an everyday left fielder he's not a bad player at all...it's just when he's a bench player that he has problems

Im not sure i agree with taking Edmonds and Fukudome out against lefties... Tonight they did and Cedeno is 0-3 with 3ks and murton is 0-3 with 2ks so far and they both will bat in the 9th.... im fairly certain between Edmonds and Fukudome they would have gotten on base atleast by walking. Their gloves are reason enough to keep them in the lineup. I understand the "day off" approach but not after an off day. In Lou we trust

The only casting vote for  "Left Field"  you should be making is punching the ballot for Ryan Braun for the all-star game.  This is only his second year in the big leagues and he became the fastest player EVER to have 150 RBI's (152) in the shortest amount of time in the league (182 games).  That means you can pick any players' name out of a hat in Major League History, and to this point, Braun would be as great as any of them.

While he started April and May very slow, he has REALLY, really turned it on.... AVG. 292  20 HR's,  55 RBI's.
