So, there is tons of speculation flying about who the Pacers may or may not trade. Larry Bird has indicated that he wants to add another top 20 draft pick. I'm not sure how he is going to pull that off with what we have to offer in trades. Shawne Williams, Jeff Foster, Jermaine O'Neal, and Jamal Tinsley could be off the team by this time on Friday. Let's hear some possible fill-ins for the rest of the starting five.

PG - Draft Pick
SG - Mike Dunleavy
SF - Danny Granger
PF - Jermaine O'Neal or Draft Pick
C - Draft Pick or Troy Murphy

If we keep Jermaine O'Neal then we have to get a center. Jermaine played his best when we had Brad Miller. Maybe Roy Hibbert could fill the center position. The point guard spot could be interesting. A lot of mock drafts have the Pacers taking DJ Augustine, while others are saying he is nothing more that a career backup. Jerryd Bayless would be a steal at point guard.

I like Kevin Love a lot but unless the Pacers trade up Love and Bayless will both be gone. Joe Alexander could be a nice sleeper pick if we can get another late 1st round pick.

joe alexander could easily be gone before we pick at 11, plus the pick makes no sense as we have SF's out the ears.  nothing against joe, because i think he will be a good player at this level, but it would be a mistake to pick him (like it was a mistake to take Shawne Williams when we needed a PG bad 2 years ago.  we could have Marcus Williams on our team RIGHT NOW guys!  and he would be developed enough to start for us next season!)

Joe a SF? I guess so. It seems like he could play the 4 spot, but maybe not.

I remember the Marcus Williams discussion. I think the problem was that there were character issues surrounding  Marcus at a time and the Pacers could not afford another bad apple.  It's kind of funny that Shawne turned into the player they wanted to stay away from.

If I could fill the 2 open Draft pick slot in the roster it still would be #11 D.J. Augustine and then Kosta Koufus or Robin Lopez. Then in the second round I'm still a big fan of Josh Duncan from Xavier but he might actually be a guy they could get as an undrafted FA. Sonny Weems and Richard Hendrix are also two guys I would like to hear tomorrow night.

^More likely than not, that will be our starting lineup for 08-09.  Regardless of who we draft at #11 and #17, those players are unlikely to claim a starting job right away.

I'm shocked that the Pacers have done as much as they have.

Pick 11: Jerryd Bayless who turned into Brandon Rush
Pick 17: Roy Hibbert

Plus, they added through trades:

T.J. Ford
Rasho Nesterovic
Maceo Baston
Jarrett Jack
Josh McRoberts
Plus cap room due to expiring contracts.

I'm fired up about what the Pacers have done. The best part is... there is more work that will be done this offseason.

I'm guessing that Tinsley, Harrison, and Williams will be gone soon. Dunleavy may get traded with the pick of Rush. I like Dunleavy so I hope we keep him.
