I agree that the Cavs need someone like a Redd to bring immediate star talent, but that doesn't always work. Isn't that what Wally Sczerbiak was suppose to be, at least on the scoring front. Frankly, I'm not sure it wasn't. The trade, move, and birth of twins mid-season may have benn unsettling to him, and I suspect he just had a bad second half.
It is also true that the Cavs had no draft picks in 2005 and 2007, and only one in 2008. They can't survive long term without developing talent for the long haul. I want there to be life after LeBron, should it come to that. Hickson should provide some immediate bench help, and assuming he gets better and better, is what you have to do to sustain a team in the long haul.
