I wonder what excuses Roddick will come up with for this one.  Next to Serena Williams, he is the worst loser in the game. Cries like a baby. He has such a feeling of entitlement that when things don't go his way, he usually throws a tantrum.  He needs to grow up a little and take the losses like a man for a change.  That would be refreshing.

try reading the article, genius.  he said that he choked it away. he said he played all the big moments badly. he usually owns up to his bad play about as well as anyone i've seen. he seems to get frustrated by the obnoxious questions from reporters, but i never really see him blame the losses on anything but himself.

This time he was gracious in defeat. But then again, he has had a lot of practice at it. Seems to me he loses mostly when it looks like he is trying to get by on talent and does not put in the effort.

deathwish...please post us some links from you tube or other articles showing where Roddick is unsportsmanlike. He is always complimentary of his opponents at most stages of the match and afterwards. It is actually one thing I've admired about him b/c he's had some rough losses and taken them well publicly. Drinking losses away in private is another. but what we dont know...

I agree with Buggin, I think the problem is the shark-infested press rooms. You try answering the same question in different ways repeatedly.

IMO Roddick has just been getting plain unlucky lately... lots of his losses in recent grand slams are to middling players (Kohlschreiber, Tipsarevic, and the chronically underachieving Gasquet) who simply play unconciously good tennis on that given day. Last year when Roddick lost at Wimbledon Gasquet was not missing a single shot and pulling insane backhand winners out of no where.

Also, many forget that Tipsarevic nearly knocked off Roger Federer at the Australian Open earlier this year in an epic 5 set classic. This loss is not entirely Roddicks fault. Sure he should have won, but its not as if he is undeserving of the #6 seed. Janko played the big points well, Roddick did not. Simple as that.

Andy Roddick doesn't need to come up with excuses. He was coming off a shoulder injury that led to his retirement at the AMS Rome (where he reached the semifinals) and eventual skipping of the French Open. Add to that the fact that while he indeed reached the semifinals of the Queen's (one of his favorite tournaments), he only 2 completed matches there including his loss to Rafael Nadal. Therefore, Roddick was simply not match-ready for Wimbledon due to his injury. Even great American players like Andre Agassi and Pete Sampras found it difficult to be match-ready in a certain tournament coming from an injury.

I saw Roddick at a charity event. He didn't seam like a jerk donating his time to play an exhibition match for nothing to help disadvantaged children. He seemed quite personable and put on a good show for the fans.

Tennis is tough both physically and mentally. He has nothing to be ashamed of.
