Have you heard of any players that got cut recently that might be worth looking at?

Please post them here for the rest of us to look at.

Well, we have read the reports on Jimmy Williams and he is worth a shot though he needs to make strides in his game and attitude to even make our 53 man roster.

How about Patrick Chukwurah (LB) who got cut by the Bucs? Hey PHskins, what do you think him since you are from Tampa. He might be worth a shot as a backup as an OLB.

Also, Chris Sims is reported to be close to being released by the Bucs. Is he worth bringing as comeptition? He plays the WCO.

I also live in Tampa but I don't know much about Patrick Chukwurah. Just that if we (in this case, the Bucs) let an LB go, he probably isn't worth a pick up.

As far as Chris Simms, there is potential. He had a hot streak 2 years ago, but came back pretty cold last year in very limited playing time. Jon Gruden seems to jump on and off of player's jocks pretty quickly, and often lets solid guys go (John Lynch, where are you? also see current Graham/ Garcia issues). Apparently, he put some serious hate on Simms last year and this off season as Simms said his relationship with Gruden was unrepairable. If we hadn't just drafted a QB that is also versed in the WCO, I would say to give him a look. If it costs us nothing, it couldn't hurt, but I don't see him even threatening 2nd string.

Looking at some positions of need, backup center is one position we need to address and there some capable FA backups available like Reuben Brown (LG) who was released by the Bears who possibly can backup center or Andy McCollum (C) released by the Rams. I know these two are old but they would cost us peanuts and can be relied on upon should Casey Rabach go down during the season.

We need another experienced body behind Rocky McIntosh, there are some solid LBs that are available like Brian Simmons (6'2), Donnie Spragan (6'3) and Marcus Wilkins (6'2). They have playing experience with Simmons and Wilkins playing with the Bengals 2 years ago while Spagan was with the Fins last year.

In the secondary, free safeties like Lamont Thompson (6'1), Travares Tillman (6'1) and Gerome Sapp (6'1) are some good prospects we can bring in for competition. I like Lamont Thompson, he was a good FS in Titans defense and is certainly worth a shot. Although our S spots are crowded right now, these FAs would be an upgrade over guys like Vernon Fox and Chris Horton IMO.

I think addressing these spots is definitely a good idea. I would say we look at Andy McCollum at C, Brian Simmons at LB, and Lamont Thompson as well as Gerome Sapp in the secondary. Thanks for the input bud.
