If you want to write an article about how Sapp is a jerk, just write that article. However, don't mention the Hall of Fame, unless you want to compare him with others. The following, just to name a few, will get in before Sapp does....because of better stats...solo tackles and assists, in waaaaaaay fewer games played.
Simeon Rice, Chester McGlockton, La'Roi Glover, Tony Casillas.
Sapp is no Hall of Fame talent, unless you're counting the size of his mouth and self-promotion. So if he gets in, I guess it'll be under the Irvin Exception.

Ummm, you do realize that DE's are NATURALLY going to put up better numbers than DT's, right? 5 bucks says at most 1 or 2 of the guys you named gets in the HOF PERIOD, before with or after Sapp.

Ummm, you do realized that only one of the people I listed is a DE, right? And the other point is, on Sapp's own merits or lack of, the Tampa-2 defense helped him put up his numbers.

Simply put, you are a moron who knows nothing about football. Warren Sapp absolutely dominated from a position that not many can. In terms of a pass rushing DT, I can't name one who was better than Sapp. For one thing, La'Roi Glover had fewer tackles and sacks than Sapp did in his career, so I don't know what you're talking about by saying he had better stats. Simeon Rice was a DE, so you can't even compare the numbers because they played different positions. Even so, he had fewer career tackles and the only thing he could do was rush the passer. He was terrible against the run. Chester McGlockton had just over HALF as many sacks as Sapp did in his career, so how can you say he had better stats???? And who the hell is Tony Casillas??? Looking at his career stats (23 sacks vs Sapp's 96.5) and ZERO pro-bowls, how can you say he should get in the HOF over Sapp??? All being said, you are an idiot who needs to learn a thing or two about football before you start spouting off about how some guys are better than another guy when they are clearly not.

Warren Sapp had a good career. He was a fantastic inside pass-rusher and pocket collapser. However he was not dominant against the run. He was not terrible but many times teams ran at him or lets just say in the running game you didn't have to scheme for him. A just miss on the hall of fame voting. For prisco to even bring up his name as someone that is a legitimate member of the media is a stretch. As far as retiring defensive lineman go. Michael Strahan was so so so much better than Sapp. Sapp just misses and Strahan is one of the most dominant defensive lineman ever to play the game. The difference between the 2 taking the entiretly of their careers is drastic.
No way in a million freakin years is simeon rice a hall of famer.. mcglocton better than rice but not in. Glover is very close. Casillas also close but not as close as glover. If GLover just dominated for a couple fo more years hes a lock as it is .. To summarize I would say he is close I don't know if hes in or out. Casillas just out, mcglockton good career but no way. Simeon Rice cmon. I put Sapp just below casillas on your well thought out list
Sapp at times was a differnce maker but when he wasnt rushing the passer he was just an ok D lineman. Nice -very nice career. No HOF.

oh, iceman. Can a simpleton put anything other than simply? Sacks aren't the only stat. How about solo tackes? Assists? And we all know that Pro Bowl election is more of a popularity contest every year. I'll be toasting every year your fantasy Hall of Famer doesn't get in. So think about me raising my glass every year. Such hostility. Luv ya.

in regards to Sapp's play against the run...
He played in a one-gap system and played the 3-technique at that. He shut down the opponent's ability to pull guards or tackles because of his penetration, he disrupts the timing.
His responsibility is to get upfield, let the 1-technique maintain gap integrity, and have the Mike read the play based off of the O-Line's movement. (HINT: the Mike knows they probably won't pull because of Sapp, thus eliminating some of the guess work)
but you probably knew that...moron
