After watching the extreme opposite pitching performances of Oliver Perez and John Maine the past week, a question arose. Why is Perez still pitching on this team? Mike Pelfrey has greatly improved and Claudio Vargas looks solid. Vargas needs to be put back into the starting rotation and Perez sent down somewhere. I wouldnt mind a rotation like this
1. Johan Santana
2. John Maine
3. Pedro Martinez
4. Mike Pelfrey
5. Claudio Vargas
Perez needs some time in the minors to get his act together because i dont think he is fully with it........yet. He has great stuff, just needs to work on being more consistent. He'll have two phenomenal outings and then two horrible ones.
Who should be in the rotation?
Go Mets! Only 3.5 back of the Phils and 1.5 back of the Marlins
I vote for Tony Armas, Jr. He's pitching on Tuesday in St. Louis and has been lights out @ AAA. Vargas is the epitome of mediocrity. Perez is inconsistent, but light years better. Armas is throwing in the 90's, has a less than 3 ERA in AAA(quite a difficult thing to do) and has a terrific K-BB ratio. If Perez goes to the pen, I hope Tony gets the shot. he's earned it.
i'd say perez.i know he hasnt been pitching the way he should but against the Yankees he went 7 innings with jus 1 earned run and the win which is a big improvement from where he was a couple of games ago and the yankees are a very good hitting team which has been on a roll of late so look 4 perez 2 step it up becuz he knos his job is on the line right now.
