Yeah, I tend to agree with you about Tex. I don't think there's really much point to trading for him considering it would take a lot of players we don't want to trade to get him and that he is going to test the FA market no matter what team he is on at the end of the year. It's really going to be about where Mark decides he wants to spend the second half of his career and whether Boras or money sways him away from Baltimore. I hope he's in our 2009 starting lineup, but that is yet to be seen.
I still wouldn't mind getting Lopez if he was cheap and Fahey would be a good swap. I don't think Lopez would be a long term solution unless he reverts to his former self, but at least he's a starter and he would do until we brought in a SS who has a long term future in Baltimore. As someone else said somewhere, it also improves the bench by adding Cintron and removing Fahey.
Luke Scott has been brilliant recently, but the one thing that bothers me about him is that while he can crush pitches low in the zone, he is late on fastballs belt-high or higher in the zone. This might be why he is considered streaky and it's only a matter of time before they start pitching him up more. If he can learn to hit pitches up in the zone better while he still has bat speed, he could be some kind of monster for a couple seasons. That's probably a big "if" though.
