Interleague play is great for the local fans. Also, SF-OAK must be cool to ferry from stadium to stadium.
As far as Yankees-Mets, this series sucks this year. They're each .500 at best teams--at the very least they each play like it.
The Yankees allowed Delgado to feast on them when he normally struggles to hit off a tee! The Yankees never really pulled away--save for the night game on Friday when they ould've. They couldn't cash in on Delgado's error at first base (to end an inning). Also, any exciting play from the Yankees must be tempered by the fact that Cincy, Pittsburgh and the mighty Queens Zoo Mets aren't exactly world class competition.
The Mets stranded too many runners--Game 2 of the double-header, they had 2 consequtive innings with bases loaded came away with no outs. Rey Rey once more screwed up running the bases. While I wouldn't feel vindicated if I were a Yankees fan--the young pitchers have been injured for the most part--Johan hasn't come close to living up to the contract he signed.
Lastly about the Subway Series, the double-header should've been on saturday. Foolishly, everyone had to contend with Friday rush-hour traffic. The first game should've started at least an hour earlier at the very least.
Parenthetically, was anyone surprised that Ollie Perez got the win today? I'm not speaking out of arrogance. He typifies the Mets--he wins games that he's not expected to win and stinks up the joint against teams that one would expect as an easy win. The Yankees gained momentum from reeling off two games in a row and beating the Mets' "Ace."
I'm just sick of the mystery. Would these bums please start living up to their contracts? No wonder Fox and ESPN passed on this series!
