Yippee! Lawson didn't play, and Hansborough almost won the game by himself. But, you're right, since Duke has lost 5 of the last seven against UNC, every little thing should go a long way. I'm so  excited. Three straight losses in Cameron and ending the last four years, FOUR years, 4,4,4,4,4,4,4,4 with a loss to UNC is fantastic. Singler is the savior, he's the next Laettner. I can see the banners now. He looked so great against Belmont, West Virginia, Clemson, Wake Forest, Miami ... I don't understand why Psycho-T (which is the most absurd name ever for a person) has already been given all the Player-of-the-Year awards, when Singler has clearly shown his ability to be the best player in the country, except for the fact that he wasn't even the best player in his home state and we all know what a bastion of talent Oregon is. Kevin Love, Kyle Singler ... that's a tough choice.

Yeah because Roy Williams has done a lot in the NCAA Tournament.  His only national title at North Carolina was "handed" to him as well.  First off that entire team besides Marvin Williams and Quentin Thomas, maybe the worst player in UNC history was made up of Matt Doherty recruits.  Second, North Carolina shouldn't have made in past the Sweet 16 as everybody who watched that game in person on TV knows Villanova had it stolen from them.  Allan Ray was clearly fouled and should have gone to the line for an and-1 opportunity.  Instead a phantom travel call was made ensuring that UNC would move on.  I recall Seth Davis after that game stating, "One...two...two steps, two steps is not a travel!"

Give some credit to Mike Dunleavy buddy.  It takes a lot for a young sophomore to step up and hit those shots in the national championship especially when you've been the team's fourth scoring option all season.  I think the program is in great shape.  Is it as dominate as it was?  Of course not.  That's not Coach K's fault.  College basketball is a lot more competitive than it was it the late 80's, early 90's.  Jay Bilas may not believe there's parity in college basketball, but trust me there is.  What other sport has George Mason reaching a Final Four or one of the best players in the country playing for a tiny school like Davidson.  That's what is so great about it.

You can rave about Roy Williams all you want.  Coach K has more national titles, more Final Fours, more wins, more ACC titles, and come this August, an Olympic gold medal.  There's a reason he was chosen as US Olympic head coach.  The team is in the best shape it has been in years and Coach K has something to do with that.  Do you think Kobe would play for Roy Williams?  Absolutely not.  The NBA players love Coach K and respect him more than the majority of their own coaches.  I would love to play basketball for a man like Coach K.

About that 2002 Sweet 16 game between Duke and Indiana, I believe you were there, but don't tell me Carlos Boozer missed that rebound.  He got that rebound, but missed the point-blank shot.  Hopefully you realize there is something great going on at Duke with Coach K.  Duke is lucky to have him as their head coach.

Regardless of our "differences," I do think it's great that you're so passionate and willing to stand-up for your team. Good for you. Stay positive and with any luck, people like you will outnumber people like me.

That's the problem. That's okay, though, when Team USA loses to Argentina and Spain (why does everyone forget that Team USA has already been beaten with Coach K leading them?) and Duke loses to Purdue, Xavier, UNC twice, Miami, Wake Forest, VT, BC, NC State, the first round of the ACC, the first weekend of the tournament, maybe enough people will beg for Dawkins to come back so K can go hang out in his garden or the Fuqua and toss out Wojo and Collins. I don't understand why a good big man doesn't want to come to Duke when the guys teaching them are 5'11," it doesn't make any sense. If I was 7'3',' I'd love for two little slow guys to teach me. 2004 would have been a great send-off, one more Final Four and then K could have coached the Lakers for three years and then been fired. He didn't stay at Duke out of loyalty, he stayed because he realized that he would have failed in the pros. He's just like his mentor, he doesn't know when to leave. I wish he'd hurry up and get the most victories, so he and Bobby can pat one another on the back. He'd feel complete with the most victories, until Ole-Roy takes it away. After next year, he'll only be one National Title behind. Then Leslie McDonald will get him the third and fourth.

Jason Kidd is the difference on Team USA.  He didn't play in the 2006 World Championships, but when he did in the 2007 FIBA Americas Cups, Kidd was terriffic.  He didn't score much, but dished the rock, and didn't turn the ball over.  Do you honestly think Argentina or Spain can beat a team of Jason Kidd at PG, Kobe Bryant at SG, Carmelo Anthony at SF, Lebron James at PF, and Dwight Howard at C?  The answer is obviously no.

Nate James is Duke's new big man coach.  Although he is only 6'6'', he relates much better to post players as he did play SF and PF while at Duke.  Coach K has earned the right, just like Joe Paterno, to coach as long as he waits, and he still has a lot of gas in the tank.  He doesn't care about the career wins record, although eventually he will eclipse the record Bob Knight.  Roy Williams will never catch Coach K, as he is several hundred wins behind and isn't much younger than Coach K is anyway.

You seem to be enamored with Leslie McDonald.  Why?  He is solid in all areas of his game, yet not spectacular in any.  Remind you of anybody?  Yeah, Josh McRoberts.  Neither player is a #1 scoring option, which was McRoberts' problem at Duke.  He was counted on to score way too much, which he just isn't capable of doing.  Leslie McDonald is in no way Josh McRoberts, yet is isn't the savior you make him out to be.  Wayne Ellington is a much better SG and Dexter Strickland will be the best guard at North Carolina while McDonald is there.  I'll take Kenny Boynton over Leslie McDonald any day.
