I agree KY will not lose to the SD's and the G-Webbs next year I would bet the farm on it but the SEC is gonna be a notch up from last year so some of the wins you had against the SEC foes could swing to losses. I remember you guys having good size leads then Bradley Patterson and Crawford were exhausted and the comeback started That cant happen this year Patterson and Meeks need there breaks.

This team is starting to remind me of the 92 season. Some people had high expectations, but for the most part, the population counted them out. Then they had a fairly great year, and went deep in to March. Im not saying that this team will be the same. But look at the players that are here.

Patterson: All american, enough said

Meeks: Can score bucket loads and works hard, but how he deals with injurys is huge.

Stevenson: Can have flashes of brilliance, possibility of 20 and 10 games, but some times he gets lost and the strength factor

Harris: Great defender, works har, and can occasionally give you 10 ppg or more, will alwaya rebound well for you.

Miller: Hard worker, able to fill it up, a team player, good defense.

Liggins: Flashy and very good. Known for his great passing skills and able to fill it up. Gives you a pg postion to set up the offense, limit turnovers, and score.

Galloway: Averaged 9 assist last year, i mean if he came in as the backup pg and gave 5 assist he would be great, but also can possibly give 10 ppg along with a few rebounds.

Harrelson: Able to hit the 15 ft jump shot. Take pressure off Patrick and allow him to play his natural position. Defensive presence, and rebounding  help on the offensive and defensiv end. Chip in on the offense as well.

Stewart: HAS GREAT POTENTIAL. When he played he played well. He scored 10 points in an early game in the season. Very athletic, moves well, and plays above the basket.

Carter: Potential as well, may come in and take some pressure off Patterson and Stevenson. BIG, so defensive presence. ability to make a play.

Porter: the work aholic. works very hard, hit the three pointer when there, hustles and good defense.

Looking at everything that was listed you can see that there is the possibility for great succes, no one can deny that. But what they do with that is key. Will Perry be a weakling and get loss like we have seen, or will he be Beast Perry we seen against tennessee and Florida. Many questions are there and only time will tell, but in any situation, it will be interesting. I know im not the only one, where youve seen a game between a power house, or at least a "better" team an the underdog wins because they want it more, they play with heart and they want it. Just like at Tennessee last year. Eveyone counted us out by 20 points. Tennesse was lucky to escape that one. It all comes down to heart with this team. Will they make the run of the year, or fall in mediocracy. Only they can decide.

One more quick thing? Everyone graduated highschool here right? Did anyone pay attention to Math here. If both Orton and Wall want to play togethor and Kentucky is high on both of them, while the other schools on their list are different, the least common denominator is Kentucky. Just put that out there. So many elite players are loooking at us, dont worry bout who were gonna get, well get ours. Ohh and North Carolina is recruiting 2010 players, they already have a top 15 player signed like Kentucky. Just thought id throw that out there to who ever said they didnt recruit that far in the future.

Lexington Blue -

Your analogy of comparing your daughter being offered a scholarship to that eight grader who drew all the big media by "declaring" for UK is incongruent. The reason is that UK did not approach this guy, they did not offer anything, they did nothing in regards to this kid. Out of the blue, he calls them up and says, "oh hey, I'm going to play for you". That's the part of the story that a lot of the news media likes to conveniently leave out, because not telling that information makes it all the more scandalous. The kid called us and told us he wanted to commit. We can't offer him squat yet - that would be against the rules - but we can accept a verbal. Honestly, what do people expect someone to do in that position? "No kid, why don't you go grow a few feet and try out or the Tar Heels?" I think it's a great move, if someone has the initiative to call us with a commitment, that we tell them "hey, if you keep growing and getting better, there'll be a place at the Kentucky table for you."

thecatsfan,

I remember reading in some media outlets that said that they thought the Avery situation was a publicity stunt kind of thing.  Just trying to get his name highly in the mix.  So you are accurate, it isn't like we really went after Avery he came after us.

However, even going as far as the 2011 class, we have Zollo which we did go somewhat go after him.  Is there really much difference between a Freshman and an 8th grader.

But this is a good point.

actually there is alot of difference between a freshman and an 8th grader. When in 8th grade u play some aau and against other junior highschools. As a freshman you grow up immansly. U are some time 5 inches taller, give or take. Playing against top highschool talent and alot aau. Plus maturity wise freshman get drunk for the first time and have sex often, the down side of highschool somewhat.

I still dislike offering guys that early unless they are absolutely sure-fire bets to be studs.  anyone else noticed that of gillispie's first 3 "far-off" players to be signed, G.J. vilarino, K.C. Ross-Miller, and Dakotah Euton.  none are even in t he top 100 in their respective classes.  and GJ isn't in the top 150.  Its just not a gamble a legitimate top tier program needs to take.  UK can compete with anyone for recruits later on in their careers when they have developed some and proven that they are legitimately a premium talent.  We dont need to expend multiple scholarships on guys that might or might not pan out 3 or so years down the road.  It's a gimmick smaller schools use to try and steal away top talent before they develope because they know that later on, they wont be able to compete for the guys verbal if he developes into a great talent.   As gillispie is showing now in the 09 class, which is just one year away, he's signed a 5star in hood, and has several other 5 stars considering, not to mention numerous 4star guys.  A game like vilarino, just wasn't really needed.
