I have seen a lot of people saying that they trust the decisions Mullin is making and that he will create a better team for the next few years, but he failed to use the 10 million dollar excetion to trade for a high caliber player, and he never adressed the backup point guard issue which just became a huge concern considering that Baron has decided to opt out. This was a stupid move by Baron I think, because there is no way that anyone other than maybe the 76ers can offer him the kind of money he was scheduled to make. We also needed a solid backup center, since we know that Nellie only likes to run Biedrins out there for about 25-28 minutes a night. Harrington is asking for a trade and isn't a true center anyways. We have young talent at the forward spot, but went after it anyways. Mullin better do something, because a lot of other teams are getting a lot better, and we aren't even going to be as good as last year. If Baron doesn't come back are we going to run Monta at the point with Belineli starting at the 2, or will it be Watson with Monta at the 2, or Monta at the point with Azibuke at the 2. Then Jack, Wright/Harrington and Biedrins.

I am still not really clear how the trade exception works, so I don't really know how big a blunder this was and whether or not it was avoidable. If it is used to trade to another team, then the reality is that maybe no team offered any player that was really worth bringing to the roster.
As far as Baron, I want him back, but I don't want them to overpay for him. Mullin will see what the going rate is for him and if it is worth it to match or top the best offer, I think he will do so and Baron will come back...........but again, don't overpay for the guy.

What do you guys think how real the offer for Arenas was? And is that a big shot at Baron that the Warriors automatically offered Arenas max out dollars???
The Warriors are saying they did not use their trade exemption so they have more dollars to retain Monta and Biedrins, that is fine, but why did they not use it during last season when we needed an a big body to help make the playoffs. I think not using it while we knew Baron had the ability to opt out to make a real playoff run is incompetence and Mullin is the one responsible!
I fear the sign and trade now for Rasheed and Chauncey may be a real possibility....and I dont think that is a great fix...

I really don't like the idea of bringing in Arenas (especially for a max deal) or the sign and trade for Sheed & Billups. If Baron doesn't comeback, I hope we make a run at Pargo. I think that in all likleyhood Baron will re-up for one year and potentially be a trade piece during the season. The problem is who out there has pieces that will make the Warriors better, and are willing to part with them.

I don't understand how Warriors fans got the idea that Chris Mullen is a great GM? Like he's the Billy Beane of the NBA!!! When he clearly IMO is a below average GM. The only thing he did good on is getting Baron from the Hornets. He was lucky that Indiana was so desperate to get rid of Jackson, that Indiana took whoever the Warriors offered!
IMO Mullen needs to go!

A darkhorse candidate/trade I would like to see would be a sign and trade to Philly for Andre Miller and Samuel Dalembert. Of course there would have to be some tinkering with the deal to get the numbers to match, but I think that would be a solid move if they are in fact moving Baron. That would give the Warriors an athletic Pg that can score, dish, and play D who could guard a lot of 2's, and Dalembert in the middle who can run an uptempo game, and plays great D while hitting the boards. Plus Philly could definitely use Baron to go alongside Iggy to give them a dynamic duo. Just a thought.

oh good, he'll take 6 million less for 5 years, and we got nothing in return. Maybe Mullin is hoping for LeBron or Wade in 2010, like the Knicks and Nets. I'm looking forward to being a perenial lottery team again. Thinking ahead Mullin, good job.
