This would have been a good article if someone else had written it.  But, seeing Doyel's body of work makes me think the exact opposite of whatever he writes.

Mayo might be a good pro.  Might.  Lots of high school superstars washed out once they got to the pros.  And his one year at USC wasn't exactly All-American.

The only thing you got right was that McHale is the worst GM in the NBA.  But, Kevin Love is going to be a solid player for them.  Does anyone know if McHale got his championship ring from the Celtics for this season yet?

Now, I'm not sure D. Rose is going to be a stud either.  Very few pg's dominate the league.  Especially ones that aren't 6'9" and named Magic.  Chris Paul is the exception to the rule.

Best of luck to all those new rookies, but it's a long way from deciding if they are worth their lofty draft status just yet.

uh, Mayo scored 20ppg, shot 45% overall and 40% from three. Plus 3+ assists playing SG. And he was "exactly All-American" - he made second or third team of virtually every all-america team.

Over O.J Mayo?
The Wolves still don't have a good PG.
And I hope D.Rose doesn't end up like Sebastian Telfair..who had the same kinda game..no jumper.
I do think the Wolves got better, cause Mike Miller is the real deal.
We'll see.

Being a Minnesota sports fan, I hope Gregg Doyel got it wrong in this column, but I'm afraid he got it right for a change.  Like a blind squirrel that finds a nut once in a while, Doyel probably nailed it on this one: Mayo will probably cakewalk his way to rookie of the year, and what's left of the Timberwolves fans at Target Center will have the "fire Kevin" chant going strong before the leaves turn brown.

The Wolves still don't have a good PG.And Mayo wouldn't have changed that if he was still with them since he's not a PG.

They should have traded for one of those young PGs in Memphis was my point.

You also left out that he averaged more turnovers then assists. Whenever he played against a strong defensive team he struggled. I see him being a good NBA player but he will never carry a franchise.
