Besides Warriors fans being upset that their star player has left them, there is no reason to bash him. Baron is looking out for himself and he got a 5 yr, 65 mill dollar deal opposed to 1 yr 17 mill. This contract will be up when he is 33/34, leaving one more contract for him if all goes well. He has always wanted to go to his hometown so you can't blame him for that. If the Clippers are able to resign Brand and Maggette, more importantly Brand, they can be a solid team in the forseeable future. The West is stacked so how far the Clippers can go is to be seen, but they will have a solid core with Davis,Brand, Kaman, Thornton, and possibly Maggette.

As a Warrior fan, I agree with everything you say about Baron.
I disagree about the Clips though. Fist of all, Maggette definitely won't be back. Second, Baron with Brand/Kaman is not a great fit. Baron is an up-temp player, those guys are almost entirely half-court guys. Thornton is a good fit for Baron, but a terrible fit for that team since last season he was only effective when playing the 4. The Clips will be solid, and have a shot at the playoffs, but they probably won't be as good as last season's Warriors.

Sunship,
I (also a warrior fan) respectfully disagree about B.D. being a "bad fit" for Kaman and Brand. Baron, being an up tempo point guard was the creation of Don Nelsons style and B.D. flourished in that style. I believe that he's a great half court player will hold up physically better in a slower style. I think that he will adapt well and the Clips will be a lower tier playoff contender!

Leave it to a Clippers fan to rationalize the unrational. Clippers on the rise? And if you knew anything about the Warriors, you would know that Monta Ellis is the star of this team.
Oh well, it's water under the bridge, and in long run, I think it will be better for the Warriors that Boom Fizzle's gone, but let me break down how much of a class act Snap Dizzle is.
According to this guy, he loved Oakland, the fans, the coach, etc. The Warriors rescued him from being un-appreciated in New Orleans. Byron Scott was not nice to him. Man, things couldn't have been better. Hey, even Jessica would come up attend the games. After this season the Warriors are ready to pay him the money he deserves. $11 million a year for multiple years. 2 years, 3 years, 7 years...we'll never know.
What does this...playing -over the hill in two years-back stabbing "player" do? He lets the team he loves twist in the wind after they gave up a $10 million trade exception so he wouldn't be signed and traded to a team he didn't like - aka NOT an LA team.
Good luck Clippers fan with your new piece...of... the potential NBA championship.

back-stabbing? because the team wouldn't commit to more than one year and he took a 5 year deal somewhere else. That's not back-stabbing. He'd have been foolish to take the one year deal, and since you think he'll be over the hill in two years, the team would have been foolish to offer him more.
So, if the player and the team both did the smart thing, what's the heartache all about?
After this season the Warriors are ready to pay him the money he deserves. $11 million a year for multiple years. 2 years, 3 years, 7 years...we'll never know.
What does this even mean? Are you saying that after this season the team would have given him a long term deal? That makes no sense. If they were willing to do that, they could have done it now and avoided the issue. AND saved money for this year. But you would have been mad if they had, since he'll be washed up in two years, right?

Maybe so, notablindfan, but he's never played in a half-court style offense, so I think, at best, he still has to prove he can do that with the same level of success he did in the up-tempo style game of his UCLA teams, the Hornets and the Ws.
That said, "bad fit" was an overstatement. Baron isn't a BAD fit for anybody. But I'm not sure that the slow down game that Kaman and Brand (esp. Kaman) require best suits Baron's skills.
