Daryl Ward did not make any errors last night, but we all know he is not a good defensive player.  Add him to Alfonso Soriano, Matt Murtant, Eric Patterson, and I think Micah Hoffpauir has played left as well.  What a terrible rotation of defensive players in left field  this year.  Reed Johnson is the exception in left, but he has not spent much time there.  Also, Patterson and hoffpauir and ward are not really OFers.  Not trying to be negative here, just an observation.

also, I think Mark DeRosa has played some left, and is not a defensive liability.

There was a post earlier in the year that referred to Matt Murton as Matt Murtant. Please tell me you said that on purpose...

Don't think he did. Seen him write Murtant an awful lot.

left field is traditionally the place for your poorest fielder, so it makes sense.

Poorest outfielder maybe, but your poorest fielder goes at first base.

I disagree.  the first baseman is involved in a lot more plays then an outfielder, esp a ;eft fielder.  I guess your "least mobile" player might go to first, but he should be able to catch the ball and stuff.  ANd Derrek Lee is one the Cubs best fielders.

You can "hide" a bad defender at first a bit, but that's more for guys who are REALLY slow and can just catch...like Piazza.
