As much as it pains me to say this, I dont want to trade for CC Sabathia. He is a great pitcher and could help the Brewers down the stretch, but I just dont like the idea of dealing away the likes of Matt LaPorta, Alcides Escobar, Mat Gamel or other young top prospects. We built this organization on our farm system and our great drafts, and I would hate to see us change that buy trading away our top prospects.

Why do posters have to post their thread as the official thread. What does this actually mean? I see numerous posters do this, does this mean other threads on the topic are irrelevant, or is it a matter of making themselves seem more important than other posters because their thread is offically the thread to be posted on in regards to the topic at hand. Its just funny to me because their must be 4 or 5 other threads on the subject and now we have the official thread coming out.

obviously it's going to take at minimum 3-4 top prospects (considering that c.c. will bring in two 1st rd draft picks), but if it ends up coming down to ''la porta or gamel'', man, that's a tough call. earlier today, i was stating how i don't want to see la porta leave, b/c i feel that the upside on laporta is a lot better than the upside on gamel.
however, i did not realize boras represented laporta, too. son of a....lol. man, that's a tough call. considering that the stars current first baseman isn't much to speak of, i hope that gamel and laporta all start getting a lot of work in @ 1st. b/c w/in the next year or two, we're going to need one of them to fill a ''large, large'' hole in the middle of our lineup. btw, i mentioned in a different post, but brantley can play cf and 1st. however, he wouldn't fill the gaping 4-spot in the lineup, as he's more of a solid-contact hitter. even though the crew's OF is stacked and young, i really have the highest hopes for brantley out of all of them (the only thing that sucks is that he's a prick--was the only guy on the team who wouldn't sign a ball for my nephew).

OK, a simple question. Based on past performance, which starting pitcher would you rather have on the mound for the Brewers in October?
Player A : (3 games) 15.1IP, 21H, 15ER, 13BB, 14K, 8.80ERA, 2.21WHIP W1, L2.
Player B : (4 games) 25.1IP, 19H 7ER, 11BB, 13K, 2.49ERA, 1.19WHIP W1, L1.
Player A is, of course, C.C.Sabathia whose meltdown in the 2007 ALCS was the major reason that the Boston Red Sox, not the Cleveland Indians, went on to contest the World Series last October.
In my mind, there are 2 possible reasons for this ; either fatigue sent in, which wouldn't be surprising considering he pitched 241 innings in the regular season, or else he lacks the big-game temperment and simply cracked under the pressure. Whichever it is, it should be ringing alarm bells for anyone considering trading for C.C.
Don't get me wrong, C.C.Sabathia has proved to be a total stud in the regular season and signing him up to a long-term deal would be a great move for the Brewers, especially if we are to lose Ben Sheets. I just feel that if the Brewers are looking for a short-term rental on someone who can give us an edge in the post-season, perhaps they should look at other options. A trade for Player 'B' perhaps?
No need, it is our very own Jeff Suppan in the 2006 post-season.
Which, in my mind, only goes to prove that whatever moves Doug Melvin may or may not make in the next 4 weeks, whether or not they work out will be largely a matter of luck, rather than as a result of foresight, or lack thereof, on Doug Melvis' part.
Who'd be a GM?

Everything I hear is that its going to take 3 top prospects. If we can get him without giving up Gamel and Laporta, that would be huge! Resign Ben,put LaPorta in right, move Hart to center and Gamel at third. That is a GREAT LINEUP! Bill Hall is not in our plans and maybe Gwynn. But the question is what to do with Weeks? So inconsistant! With CC,what is the rotation? I would say Bush is gone? I would rather see Mccung pitching instead of Mr community service suppan also..
