Wow I got to give alot of you some credit for speaking the truth about your QB. I'm not here to be a troll. The Michigan board is slow right now so I thought I would come see If there was anything going on with Michigan over here. I agree that your QB is mediocre. I thought you guys had a good team last year but Todd was your weak link. He's the only reason the Michigan game was some what close. Anyway for you guys to be anywhere close to the expectations you have put on yourselves this year your QB is going to have to step it up. Cavslbj1223 seems to think your QB is so awsome and brags about him on the Michigan board so its nice to see some fans who are objective enough to speak the truth.

The Michigan game was an excellent example of his crappiness.  O but it was cold and rainy!  I don't get why people use this excuse all the time, he played HS ball @St.Henry, OH, you don't think he played in crappy weather up there?  Also, he threw about the same as Henne and Henne had a seperated throwing shoulder!  Maybe he should've stuck w/baseball, I think he's the one who owns a OHSAA HR record.  Heck, I bet he played in similiar weather the first couple weeks of baseball-a couple years ago, we played in the snow.

Is it fair to say Todd is the Ohio State version of John Navarre except he hasn't had a solid senior season yet ?

Is it fair to say Todd is the Ohio State version of John Navarre except he hasn't had a solid senior season yet ?It's not fair to say Boeckman is the Ohio State version of anyone until he's done playing at Ohio State.  For all we know, he could come out on fire and steal Beanie's Heisman this year.  (That's a joke, folks.)  He could also come out looking like crap and end the season on the bench.  Who knows?  In his first year starting, he took his lumps, but he also showed some potential.  If he gets better as most QBs do in their second year starting, I would say he's better than the OSU John Navarre.  After all, he's already shown he can win a road game against a ranked team - Navarre never did IIRC.

I agree that Boeckman does have potential (which showed earlier last seasun, up until the MSU game), but he gets flustered in every big game.  Remember, he had one of the best O-lines in the nation.  Plust, although the two Brians aren't big YAC receivers, they , have blazing speed, great hands, and incredible range (some of those diving catches they make are just unreal).  With all of the talent surrounding him, he should be consistently good.  He doesn't need to be great.  He could probably learn a lot from studying some films of Craig Krenzel.

Boeckman reminds me more of a Steve Belisari w/a better arm.  Same terrible pocket pressence.  But like Erkper said, who knows what happen this yr.

"He could also come out looking like crap and end the season on the bench.  Who knows?"

He would have to be absolutely terrible to get the hook from Tressel.  He protects his returning starters way too much.  Remember Krenzel's senior yr against Michigan - he did terrible and then got hurt in the 2nd half.  McMullen came in and we started to make progress finally.  But then Krenzel decided he was good to go and Tressel put him back in.  No offense to Krenzel but he couldn't bring a team back from down more than 2 scores, especially late.  McMullen had the arm and the gun slinger mentality to do it but Tressel thought overwise.  We probably won't have came back anyways but still, it would've given us a better shot.  The whole Zwick over Smith thing for half a yr was basically the same thing.

I think you guys are forgetting the type of QB he is and the fact that this was his first year. Have you compared his stats to the likes of any QB you think is better their first year? The games in which he struggled were the ones were the blocking was not very good (or the pass rush was better). He got flustered after taking a few pops. Pretty easy to critize when you are watching those shots. I think we needed to create more safety valves and shore up the bust in blocking. He was throwing a lot of deep balls and that takes time to develop. Boeckman is a ton better than Belisari!

Compare these stats.

2379 yds 25 td 14 int

2743 yds 25 td 12 int

Boeckman to Henne in their first year... By the way, that was the most yards and TD's for Henne in his career

I'm throwing out U of M because of the weather and his hand. We didn't actually need him anyways that particular day..

About Krenzel and U of M...He had that injury before the game and what was his record coming to that game??? I think he earned the right to go back out there...
