Agent Mark Bartelstein said he had brief discussions with the Hornets on Tuesday regarding Boston Celtics free agent James Posey.

"We talked, but there are several teams interested in James,'' Bartelstein said.

The Hornets are seeking a shooting guard and Posey is one of the top available free agents.

Bartelstein also represents guard Jannero Pargo, who opted out of his contract and is seeking a three-year deal from the Hornets. Bartelstein said he spoke to several teams interested in Pargo, which included the Hornets. Tuesday was the first day of free agency, when teams could begin negotiating contracts.

Bartelstein also said former Hornets forward P.J. Brown, who won his first NBA championship last month with the Celtics after a 15-year wait, is likely to retire.

Brown said during last month's NBA finals in Boston that he eventually wants to get into coaching. Hornets Coach Byron Scott has an opening on his staff, and when Brown was mentioned last week about his interest in coaching, Scott said he planned to call him after he returns from vacation next week.

I'd rather have Magette over Posey. I still think Pargo is capable of starting at SG. I have been saying this and I will continue to say this, but the Hornets need Ben Gordon.

Wow the Hornets are really going to do this to us and get no one worthy of siging. They are not even in any of the rumors floating on the net or on the sports networks. This sucks!!

don't fret dubb, they'll get somebody worthy....even if not, we had a great team last year, they've had a year to gel and people like Julian Wright have gained valuable experience
