Yeah, I'm not crazy about either of these guys but they are relatively inexpensive (for a reason) and the contracts are only for 1 year.
While I don't see anyone coming close to beating Detroit this year, the East is still very weak so I like our chances of getting back to the finals, especially if we can pull off another deadline deal or two.
Here's a conspiracy theory for you: What if Shero and Hossa concluded that a long term deal is not possible this year due to salary cap considerations so, with a wink and a nod, Shero tells Hossa to go ahead and sign a one year deal with Detroit, get your cup, and then we'll talk long term contract next year when we have more flexibility. Meanwhile, we lock up our core long term and get a couple of fill-ins on one-year deals.
