First of all you Pens fans are a little bitter which is understandable. But to wish injury on a player is wrong and disgusting. I will not deny that winning back to back championships in the NHL is difficult but, the wings diffently help their chances. As far as winning with a second tier goalie ask yourself this question. What second tier goalie just won the cup and beat your team, and in my opinion should have been MVP of the Stanley Cup Finals  ? Answer:   Chris Osgood

Let me start by saying I am a Wings fan and just a plain Hockey nut, but nothing is a guarantee in hockey.  Just ask some of those loaded Wings teams before the cap that lost in the first & second round of the playoffs.  I think Pittsburgh has some of the best young talent in the game and should do alright next year.  However, they are losing some of that character that got them to cup this year and sometimes that isn't easy to replace.  Malone a good hard nosed player, Roberts a wiley veteran, Hossa the second best playoff producer on their team and possibly more to come with Orpik.  The Wings try to keep their core players and build around them.  Draper & Maltby may not be household names, but they are good defensively with speed and chip in the occasional goal.  That's why they have been here ten plus years along Listrom & Holmstrom and now have a new core coming in with Zetterberf, Datsyuk, Franzen, Kronwall, etc.  They lock these guys up for less money than they can get in other places because they know they will contend year in and year out.  They all buy into the team and have one goal every year, win the cup, while other teams goals are to just make the playoffs.  Hossa signed for one year, but don't be surprised if he fits in that he will not be around a long time.  The cap may continue to increase and they will fit him in and he will take less money to win more cups.   I will agree that it was probably better that he did not sign in Pittsburgh with all the money tied up in Crosby and Malkin, but they still have to replace several key players from their cup run.   Better watch out for Tampa Bay too.  They are by far the most improved team this off season and the new owners look like they want to upgrade that team quickly.  Malone, Roberts, Hall, Vrbata, Prospal, Kolzig, Stamkos is a lot to add and I bet they aint done either.  Plus they still have Lecavlier & St. Louis.

Break a leg?  you must be crazy,  Hossa wont have to play as hard as he did when he was with Pitt.   And I am not saying Hossa wont play hard, because we all know that he gives 100% all the time,  he was the only reason Pitt.  won the games that they did in the series vs. detroit.  So now, if his knee does start to show signs of weakness he can take a break, he wont have to feel like he is carrying the load, because Detroit has a bench that will be able to produce with or without him.  Something Pitt. doesnt have.

wishing injury on a player who doesn't sign with your team is pathetic, and doesn't deserve a response...oh wait I'm responding to it.....crap. I guess I'm a hypocrite, and your a poor sport!

OK-OK-OK . alright maybe not a torn ACL but at least a mild-severe case of Detroit food poisoning... This guy was saying one thing and doing the other and yeah it is sour grapes but what the hell i am a fan of the Pens and took what he was saying as the truth and so i am pissed. The Pens will be fine but would of been finer with him (at least short term).

Anybody but the Wings in the west obviously. At least i don't have to see Hossa until the post season.

From tsn.canada. my sentiments exactly.

Why Detroit?  Because Marian Hossa wants to win and he feels his best chance of winning the Stanley Cup is with the defending champion Red Wings.

The Pittsburgh Penguins, though, look at Hossa's signing with Detroit for one year and $7.45 million as a slap in the face. Why is that? Because of the term, not so much because of the money.

The Penguins would have been more comfortable had Hossa just gone to the Edmonton Oilers and accepted their multi-year deal for $60 million or more because that would have represented a financial decision.

All along, Hossa was telling Penguins management that he would like to sign with Pittsburgh, but he asked for the chance to test the free agent market and see what was available on July 1 and ended up signing with Detroit.

Pittsburgh would have matched this had they been given the opportunity
