This is good for considering Armwood is ranked 20th out of all the recruits, and also he went to the same highschool as kevin durant.

It really doesn't mean anything but he just came out of the same program that put out a great player. Thanks though

GREAT NEWS! Nova is now set at forward for 09-10.

It seems Armwood is somewhat similar to Shane Clark, 6-7 but only 187 lbs. My impression from reports on other sites is that he is not quite the shooter a healthy Shane Clark is but a better ball handler.

I think he could complement Taylor King quite effectively. On offense King would be the wing due to his deep range; however I suspect he is too slow to guard Big East small forwards. Armwood seems to be athletic enough to guard the 3 and King at 6-6 and 225 lbs might be big enough to guard a power forward.

If the 09-10 team is set, they will miss the athleticism, rebounding and intensity of Dyane Anderson and Dante Cunningham, but they should be a good team. I project the starters as Fisher, Stokes, King, Pena and Drummond. Key contributers off the bench would be Redding, Sutton, Armwood and Wayns. The team will have size but not great quickness. I suspect Scottie will be in the NBA.

I'd love to see Scottie stay for his senior year but I doubt he would have much to gain by staying. He'll be a three year starter after this year. Last year there was too little offensive talent around him, unlike his freshman year. If he stays healthy I expect he will have enough talent around him to show what kind of combo guard he could be in the NBA.

I've heard Armwood is more of a Curtis Sumpter type player than Shane Clark (stronger, better inside out game, creates more matchup problems).  He is very athletic and a great get.  The Cats are also targeting Terrell Vinson, a 4 star forward who happens to play high school ball with Armwood.  There is no doubt that Armwood's commitment will have a huge impact on Vinson's decision.  Also on this line of thought, Maalik Wayns has been playing with USA basketball U18 team and in various showcases- spending a lot of time with #11 overall recruit (and rising) Dom Cheek of St. Anthony's (6'5", being recruited by basically everyone - Florida, Gtown, Kansas, UNC, UCONN to name a few).  Wayns has been playing the point and Cheek the 2, and from what I've read, Wayns keeps laying the ball off to Cheek and giving him lobs for alley oops.  He is making it a priority to show him what can be expected if he comes to Villanova. He wears his Nova shirts and backpack around all the time, and says he talks to Cheek about coming to Villanova every day.  Jay Wright must be very proud.  FROM SI.COM ARTICLE: "Coaches cannot attend IS8 games because the event takes place in a dead evaluation period, but the appearance of Wayns -- wearing his navy blue Villanova shirt and carrying a Villanova backpack -- may prove stronger than any coaching impression. On the court, Wayns, who displays excellent court vision, repeatedly feeds Cheek, lobbing alley oops and serving soft handoffs to him."  Getting a guy like Cheek would solidify Nova's position as one of the premier programs in the country.
