Thats good. Singing Malking and Fluery was a priority. To bad they couldnt get Malone or Hossa. With Malone and Hossa i think they could of had another shot at the Stanley Cup. Without getting them theres a chance of getting back there but I guess Semi-finals.........GO PENS tho!

They dont need malone or Hossa to make it back to the finals. They need to go out and get a group of decent to good players for the 3rd and 4th lines.  Those lines were worthless in the finals and didnt do anythign against Detroit because they had all that cash spent in their first line and malkin.

If they want to make it back they need to build a good 3rd and 4th line with decent aging or up and coming players that they can get for a year or two at a good market price.  Having a bunch of high price guys wont help make the 3rd or 4th lines any better which means they will once again be non existent in the playoffs.

Malone & Ho$$a had to go to keep the heart of the team together. I'm more upset that they didn't re-sign Ruutu. But the heart of the team will be together for the next 5 years at least! Satan will become a superstar for a season, then sign for BIG $$ somewhere else and suck again in the following season.

Honestly, ironically enough I don't think Malone had to go, well I say that knowing what we know now.  If we had known we wouldn't sign Hossa a month ago would we have let Malone get so distanced from this team's management.  We could've easily signed him for a $5m per year, which is a lot for him but not considering the contracts that have been thrown around.  It doesn't surprise me that he's gone, but it could've been easily to avoided if we had been more committed to signing him early.
