Thank you for that, DF, because Japan has always fascinated me. Remember- you have watch Tampopo, which is all about the culture of food in Japan.

-I oughtta mention that the climate has a lot of variation here, depending on where you are-  Japan is thin, but long, and would streatch from about north Florida to Maine, with similar changes in climate along the way (Osaka is fairly far south, and has a climate similar to South Carolina- north Georgia, BTW).

-The amp can make a big difference-  I spent a year after I bought my Gibson way back trying to get "the" Cream sound, or "the" Led Zep sound from my first amp (a Peavy BackStage Plus), and wondered why I couldn't get them.  A friend of mine a few years later bought an old Marshall tube amp.  I plugged in, and there they were...

Wow, DF- Japan sounds a lot like the Outer Banks, just further north. Still and all, just means I need to pick clothing accordingly.

As for the amp thingee: 'tis key. Jeff Beck played a Marshall half stack, with Les Pauls and Startocasters, sometimes a Tele. Eric Clapton played mostly Marshalls, as did Duane Allman. All their amps were modified, with a simple change that takes 5 minutes to do.

I know, pretty much, what all the great guitarists played- they inspired me so much it's been a pleasure to learn how they did things. What an education. Such amazing musicians.
