I'm in no way a Thompson hater like there are a few who just eat this man up. I think he is a great GM who has done many great things for us and very few if any bad.

However he may have goofed I don't know. I understand he wants to win with his guy Aaron Rodgers.

But now with his mom coming out and saying Thompson didn't want him back really has me wondering is it true did Ted not want him? If this is true it could very well rip this organization apart.

For one this is a massive distraction to this team and to Aaron Rodgers. If this comes out to be true then Thompson will have lost a lot of respect in my boat. I get a feeling McCarthy and Thompson may not even be on the same page with this.

This could just be a disaster as the distraction could ruin this team and cause discontent within this proud organization.

I just hope it works out and this organization doesn't crumble due to this crap. We are a team that is built to win for years to come with or without Brett Favre but if Brett truly wanted to come back and Thompson nudged him out it could be bad very bad.

What is everyone's thoughts on this new information that has come out recently I don't want to blame TT yet because I don't blame them obviously for moving on now and not wanting to allow him back in. But if Thompson truly was hoping he would retire then he can go straight to hell for all I care.

The thing that sucks is we may never know!

Just like I said on my thread.

Would someone please tell me, just what about, we’ll pay you 12 million dollars to play says we don’t want you ? I know if someone was going to give me that much they’d have to do some really nasty things to make me feel I wasn’t wanted.

You know what’s starting to look bad, is a grown A** man sending his Mommy out to do his fighting.

Unfortunatley this is placing Thompson in a lose-lose situation where no matter what he does he will be ridiculed for the decision he makes.  The poster who states Favre being under contract proves a commitment by the team is correct.  This does say the Packers have commited for Favre to be around another 2 years.  It's not as if they had been asking to restructure his contract orvoid out the final years.  Favre and those around him almost made it sound like he desires the management to be on their knees and begging for his return, I'm sorry but why would a man and player of Favres status feel the need for the team to beg his return.  Over the years the media has not helped either, as Favre has always been under contract and they continue to ask him if he wil retire, starting all the fraucas, yes Favres own comments over the years have not helped either, bt we can also say that Favre desires this attention directed his way.

This whole situation of retire or not to retire the last couple years has made it very difficult for Thompson.  Without knowing when or if favre will retire he needs to have another plan in place.  This is what he has done with Rodgers.

To understand Thompsons dilemma you need to try and put yourself in his shoes.  Let's say you are a business owner and you continue to hear rumblings about your top employee leaving the company.  This employee is already the top paid worker with many other perks and benefits that other employees don't have.  Let's say this mployee is looking at leaving to start a business of their own and you don't really have any control in his decision.  As the owner you are left doing what you can to have a backup plan in the scenario this top employee leaves.  Now you have your backup plan in place and have promoted other employees to fill the void left by your top employee who had left on his own venture.  Now this former employee has found that running their own business was not as easy as they had thought and had to end their plans of running their own business.  Now your former employee comes back and asks for their position back, you know this former employee is better than anyone you currently have on your staff, but can you really bring him back to his former position and demote those you had promoted?  I don't think so.  Also the owner would have to ask himself, if I rehire this guy what guarantee do I have that he will not leave again at the next opportunity that presents itself?

I know its not exactly the same as football but it is awfully similiar, this whole ordeal of Favre wanting to return now and his past uncertainty has placed Thompson in a very bad situation.

Tend to agree with all of you. Let us all remember that (as far as I have seen) the only comment from Favre himself was to deny the story. However, if the story turns out to have validity, then I will be rapidly changing my opinion of Brett. It would be unfair to the Packers, TT, McCarthy, Rodgers, and all of us Packer fans.

I know that Brett has said in the past that he felt the Packers didn't want him back, I agree with Dawg, $12 mil would tell me I'm wanted; nothing more needs to be said after $12mil. Hey Brett, you were the starting QB for the Packers until you decided to call it quits. Every time you decided to play another year, you were behind center. This year would have been no different. Well you quit, and the Packers moved on. What did you expect? TT supposed to come to your front door and beg you to reconsider? I don't think so. So Brett, please do us all a favor and stay retired. Have solace that you had a Hall of Fame career, and allow us fans to remember you as the greatest Packer QB to play the game.
