To each their own perspective. From what I saw of him last year, I think he showed plenty of potential. When he was actually given time to sit back in the pocket (which was next to never) he showed a lighting fast release, pin point accuracy, and a strong arm. He did make a number of mental mistakes, which you have to expect from a freshman, but so did Quinn his freshman year, so that certainly doesn't mean he's an automatic bust.
The one thing Quinn did do significantly better as a freshman than Clausen, as someone already said, was take a beating. I think the fact that he's a good inch or two taller and 30 lbs heavier probly helped with that. I know Clausen put on some weight in the off season, but we'll see.
Whether he'll surpass Quinn for his career, who knows? But I think its not at all impossible for him to exceed Quinn's sophomore year numbers. Again, far more aggressive play-calling alone will help him pass that. If the offensive line can hold up, I really don't see how Quinn's sophomore year numbers will be that hard to match/exceed.
