Just out of curiosity..would you say that the Cardinals are better than the Steelers and Wisenhunt has their number after one game in the dessert.  If that is not the case saying the steelers beat themselves is not an outrageous comment.  It is really not an excuse it happens all the time.  Penalties and stupid turnovers are a big part of the game but they also contribute to a lesser teams victory.  I know if I say the Steelers beat themselves, I am not making an excuse.  I am just saying that the Steelers made some stupid decisions which contributed the the loss.  I will give you three example of teams we were clearly better than but we beat ourselves Arizona, Denver and the Jets.  All three on the road and we played terrible and beat ourselves.  That is not an excuse that is just the facts and those losses count in the standings.

Mano,

The Patriots defense didn't complain about the quick scoring offense because they don't...blow like the Bengals defense does.  It is a good thing for your offense to score.  If you stop your oppenent and give the ball back to your offense, you want them to score again.  Not eat up the clock and give you time to drink your gatorade, but score.  It is easier to play defense a little tired with a 2 TD lead than to go out rested with a field goal lead

You get a sense you only have to stop them a few times, then they will kind of give up because they are down by so much.  The Bengals problem is they couldn't stop them a couple of times.

The ToP shifts to the Pats favor because opposing offensive coordinators feel they have to throw to try and catch up.  It leads to lots of 3 and outs for them and the Pats.

Rich Justify,

I agree 2 years ago Heap was the man, maybe last year he was the best, but I think Heap's injuries and Winslow's healing have slowly changed the tide.

M3tal,

the plural of dingus is dinguses.

Mano,

That was supposed to say "and the Pats take over and lead long drives"

I did play football, but I highly doubt high school football would be at all comprable to NFL football.  So for all intents and purposes I will say no.  But I stand firm that a rotating denfensive player can stay as fresh as an offensive player throughout a game.
