Kenny Perry has been really up-tight about making the ryder cup team lately. He wants to play in front of his hometown crowd in Kentucky.

Kenny decided not to play the U.S. Open because he does not like Torrey Pines.

Many people have saying that he is going to skip the British Open because he wants to stay in the U.S. and earn more ryder cup points at the U.S. bank championship.

He is currently ranked 4th in ryder cup standings. It looks like he will make the team with ease.

Is skipping the British Open a good or bad idea?

Kenny Perry should be the Ryder Cup Captain, not Azinger!!.  If Perry were the captain, he would be playing with his team,  unlike Azinger who  can't even make all the cuts, win a tournament, or even place in the top 50!!

If players know they don"t do well on a certain course, they don't play, don't have to.  That is just playing it smart!!

Some information on this thread isn't accurate. Kenny Perry didn't play the U.S Open because he didn't like the course. He wasn't qualified to play in it, his win came to late and close to the tournament to qualify for it. He would have had to go thru qualifying like Rocco to play and obviously he didn't. Also ILG, I remember you slamming Tiger a while back because he doesn't like certain courses because they don't suit his game now you are saying its smart?.? Pick a side and stick with it. You sound like Barrack Obama the way you flip flop on issues

XX,  I am surprised that we agree on Obama's flips!

After reading a lot of posts saying TW had earned the privilege to choose the courses, in which he wanted to play, I ageed.

This is also true of Perry.  He wants to keep his rank for the Ryder Cup, so he is not going to jeopardize that by playing where he doesn't do well. ( I understand he is not playing  the next  Major either.)   I am all for Perry.  He has shown he will be an asset.

I think that Kenny should play. He is not getting any younger, he should take every opportunity that he gets. If he goes to the British and does not play well, I think he will still be qualified for the ryder cup. I don't think one missed cut or a top 50 tournament is going convince Azinger that he is not good enough to be on the team. Who knows, Kenny could play well.

Its his choice to play or not, he will pick the best choice for him.

The simple fact is Kenny made a commitment to play in the John Deere before his money ranking earned him an exemption to the British Open.

If he bailed on the Deere, then people would be critizing him for jumping ship and not being a man of his word.

Who cares about those fish head eating Brits anyway?  More fuel to the fire if they want to act like children, come Ryder Cup time.

While Tiger is out, at least it gives the reporters something to write about!!!
