Still catching up. I should have done this in one post, but you can put up with me.
Work snatched me (LOL, I do actually accomplish things...) not the Tex-Mex discussion. I'm still not crystal clear about what makes Tex Tex and what makes Cali, Cali though.
We'd probably be neighbors in your lottery scenario, Jon. I'd probably want two very different places for the variety though. San Diego would be one of them for sure.
Now I'll keep reading and making posts...

Ooh....Atwater, I wish you hadn't told me that. I love barbacoa, but now I may have to reconsider. LOL
Hawk, I'm sure there are some mex places here and there that might pass the test. Here you go buddy, I'll give you the items
Tex-mex: Picture some big heapin fajitas (grilled chicken or steak, both chopped) with onions and peppers grilled on the same iron, now you get flour and corn tortillas, black beans, rice (no socks), cheese, pico, salsa (not freakin Pace), sour cream, guacamole, and some jalapenos. Add a Texas brew like Shiner and BAM.....that's a winner. This is pretty much the standard fixins for most places I have frequented in Texas. The variables are how they prepare their tortillas and salsa.
Cali: Basically seems to be more authentic IMO, meat of your choice....shredded of course, corn tortillas, beans, cheese, lettuce, salsa?.......ummm.......is there more to it Jon and At?
Anyways, they can give you a better list on that one. Like I said, give me Tex-mex baby.

Cali-Mex, which I gotta admit I don't actually know as a phrase folks use. Flour or corn tortilla's, here it's pretty much the same as Tex, a burrito, soft taco, they use flour. Enchilladas, crispy tacos, tostadas (which can do both but I prefer corn) are corn tortiallas. Tamales are the same, corn meal. Refried beans, made from pinto. Sour cream, guacamole, pico de galle, rice (looks the same but different flavor).
Really there's not a tom of difference other than spices and how the meat is offered. Here if you order carne asada you get a steak. There it is either a thin piece of meat grilled (that's if you or your buddy is making it - we had a guy named Miguel at my shot who sold carne asada tacos on Fridays) or diced if you get it at a stand. They say it is just marinated in lime and pepper, that's how I do it, but if you buy it somewhere there's more to the taste than that. Also, Cali-Mex is more inclined to offer shredded beef than Tex. Cali uses jalapeno's and pico and salsa as much as anywhere else.
But again, the biggest difference is probably flavor. Didn't stop us from going out for some Mexican food last night. What can I say, I'm susceptible to suggestion. If you're curious I had two cheese enchiladas and a pork tamale with beans and rice (I don't eat the rice at that place). Wife had arroz con pollo, chicken with rice. Daughter had mac n cheese.

So, PETA is upset because the Ravens want to have two live Ravens at their games. Really? No, I mean it... Really? Is that the biggest and best fight they can pick right now? They say that if the Ravens want to generate fan interest they should do it by winning games and not by gimmicks. Okay, that is true, but still... Really? They're not sacrificing the Ravens, you could say that they are honoring them.
Please Brett, for the love of all that is holy... Stay away.
