The 76ers should go hard after Josh Smith, he would be an upgrade and still has room to improve. Iguodala should move to the SG position so Thaddeus Young can start at SF. They should look at James Posey to backup Young at SF. Marreese Speights was a good pick up, providing depth up front. If they get Smith from Atlanta, they would have Reggie Evans coming off the bench and probably get more production with less minutes. They still need a back up C but could also address that in free agency (Jamaal Magloire, Francisco Elson, Theo Ratliff, Primoz Brezec). Their line up could look like this next season:

G-A. Miller/L. Williams

G-A. Iguodala/R. Carney

F-T. Young/Free Agent (James Posey)

F-J. Smith/R. Evans

C-S. Dalembert/M. Speights

They should improve their win total from last season and pose a serious threat to win a round in the playoffs.

I've mentioned this before. so someone please correct me if I'm wrong. But Josh Smith is a SF. He plays SF, he's listed at SF. Just because he's 6'9 and can get boards doesn't mean that the 4 is his spot. It'd be cool if he did play there for us, but I always remember him playing SF.

Ya Josh Smith is a sf but its not like we has to be playing the whole game down low when playing pf. Sixers started Thad Young in the playoffs at pf and he did pretty well and josh smith is bigger than young so i dont know why it would be a problem to start smith at pf.

Just because a player is listed at a position doesn't mean or make a person right for that position.  Josh Smith on this team woyld be PF, on Boston he would be a PF, maybe on another team he would be the shooting forward.  It all depend where he fits in with the personnel on the team.  Iguodala isn't a shooting guard, but on this team he is by default if they sign Smith.  Remember this is not a good shooting team, and Smith won't help this team shooting from the outside.  This team really needs to find a shooting guard with 3 point range, and work on their foul shooting.  Ideally I would move Iggy and some other players to get the shooting guard and some other parts to the puzzle.  This team is far away from contending for a championship with the personnel on this team.  If we don't trade Miller and he decides to leave at the end of the year then we gave up Iverson for nothing.  Although he's the best player on this team he's too old to ever be a part of when this team is good.  We need help and Ed needs to stand up and do the right thing.

I guess I can counter your point by saying just because we have a weakness at PF, and not necessarily at SF, it doesn't make him right for the PF spot. Does he play like a PF though, honestly? He's a slasher who can sometimes get hot from beyond the arc. He defends well on the perimeter and gets a decent amount of boards. He doesn't work down low, doesn't post up all that much and when he plays D, he's usually covering one of the more athletic players on the court. You tell  me what makes him "right" for the position that I can't seem to get.
