I've gotta feeling by Tuesday morning, we're going to 8 1/2 games out of first place. The team we put out on the field today can't compete with the Phillies. Jerry Manuel's philosophy of keeing guys fresh is kind of interesting to me. From what I can see, It isn't really not doing a whole lot for this team from my perspective. He now has the same record as Willie Randolph did when he got fired. Totally a missed opportunity tonight, but it's simple, we don't put teams away when we have the chance. I've seen it over and over again and we end up getting beat 'cause of it.

Yeah it was a missed opportunity tonight. The bats went back to sleep and once the phillie bullpen came in it looked like nobody wanted to hit. Even though Santana had a rough 6th he deserved better than this. I am not sure about resting Church after only being back in the line up for 5 games to play Aguila, it didn't make sense to me. It could be a rough series, but we need to win the rest of the games some kinda way.

Yeah now isnt the time to be resting people, biggest series of the year.,..ok Church had a concussion, but lets go suck it up and play ball...
Need to somehow figure a way to win the next three....huge obstacle....but anything is possible....
Props the Phils.....they came up with the hit when they needed it the most....

You're right, Church has been our best bat, when healthy. The only way he should be out of the lineup is if he says he needs a day off. At this point he should be viewed in the same light as Wright, Reyes and Beltran.

Manuel is doing the things thing Randolph did. Let rest this guy today, and this guy tomorrow and this on Sunday and this on Monday...I'm sorry these players are making millions! I don't want to see the "He's tired excuse." To d*nm bad suck it and play, you all can rest next week during the All-Star break.
Ram Tough - The only thing that I disagree with you on is the "fading fast" part. The Mets have been playing like this for half the season now and we're still hang around. Even at 5 1/2 out.

Definitely time fo a shakeup at the player level. What's a bigger wake-up call to a worker... the boss getting fired or a coworker? The boss gets fired and he says to himself....I knew it was is fault, he's a horrible leader. The coworker gets fired and he says to himself.....I better work harder or I'm next. The Mets should do what Atlanta did today with Francouer. Time to send either Delgado or Beltran down and collect themselves and get their act in gear. I don't care how much you pay someone, if they are under contract you can do whatever you want with them. If they really want to win they will do whatever necessary to right the ship. Unfortunately a good man had to lose his job for these bums. The guy who should have lost his job is Minaya for signing them.

Tartans, I be back to revisit on Tuesday when were 8 1/2 games out to see what your thoughts are then. If we can't beat Philadelphia with our ace on the mound, what makes you think we can beat them with Maine, Perez and who ever else Jerry decides to throw in there on Monday? This is what I mean by fading fast.

anjeckel, I totally agree, if a player isn't perfoming, he should be demoted no matter how big his contract is, but unfortunetly it won't happen.
