I generally don't disclose things of a personal nature. Since the subject is out there, might as well. Smoking is harmful and can be for some extremely difficult to quit.

I have smoked since the age of 14. I am now 48. I have cancer. Nobody will say it is or was directly related to my smoking, but I'd be a fool to think otherwise. Yet, I still smoke. Kowing full well how ignorant it is. The tumor was in my small intestine and was surgically removed. I have not felt like myself since. Pain, fatigue, and stomach problems have followed. I was also diagnosed with COPD.

The cancer spread into my lymph nodes and sometime soon should reappear somewhere else. So smoke if you like, but understand the risks. The odds say I will not live 5 years so I would say it cost me much more then 13 years of life.

Not to be a downer, but thought I'd lay it out there for some to think about. Is it worth it??? Only you can say, but in my mind a temporary pleasure isn't worth losing out on your childrens weddings or seeing your Grandchildren grow up.

Think about it before you are forced to.

 Take care my friends,

 To good health,

 Finsfan4ever

I'm sorry to hear that Finsfan4ever. I've smoked since I was 19 and I am now 36. I've quit many times, for up to several months. Addictions are often lifelong struggles. Nicotine can be a deceptive little devil. Its more powerful than people think. Its power often trumps rational thinking.

Great blessings to you Finsfan4ever. May you be healed according to your highest good.

Jonathan

Thanks guys, I try to keep a positive outlook and because of choices I've made I am forced to deal with what I am dealing with. I don't want to preach because you have every right to smoke if you wish. I just thought if one person stops because of what I wrote here then it was IMO the best post I've ever made.

Thanks again,

And now let's talk FOOTBALL!!! !!! !!! It's almost time for training camp!!! !!! !!!

GO FINS!! !!! !!!

You're a class act Finsfan4ever. I've been thinking for several weeks that I would quit again. I am going to a 2 week buddhist meditation retreat at the end of the summer and I can't smoke there anyway, so I need to have quit beforehand. I think I will take your post as friendly support and do what is best. Thanks for sharing.

Back to the celebration of cigarettes, I smoke Winston lights; shame it wasn't in the poll because we tobacco addicts need some love sometimes and I wanted to contribute.  Would love to be one of the smokeless in this world, but I haven't been able to succeed in my quitting attempts.
