the city of philadelphia has no sympathy for Cubs fans. at least you've seen a team in your city win a championship.  philadelphia is the only city to have teams in all 4 major sports (baseball, football, basketball, hockey) and not have a championship in over 20 years. this city is home to the losingest team in the history of sports (Phillies lost over 10,000 games). they haven't seen a championship in any sport since villanova beat georgetown back in 1985. heck, even smarty jones couldn't win the triple crown in horse racing.  this city competes at everything and can't seem to find a winner. perhaps that is why their biggest sport icon is a fictional character (Rocky Balboa).

but if you think being a cubs fan is worse than being a sports fan in philadelphia i'd like to hear your reasons

Do we really want your sympathy in the first place?

I think his point was that there are Cubs fans out there... maybe not the ones that post on a regular basis... but that there are some fans out there who just have to hope that we find a way to break our 100 year drought because we haven't won in so long. I think the analogy he's trying to make is that at least we have the old Bulls teams that have given us something. I won't accept the White Sox win though as a championship for the city however, that was for the lame Sox fans only... I don't care about it or want any part of it. Unfortunately, the Sox fans still seem to think it's 2005 if you listen to them. Anyhow, I do agree that I don't make any apologies for being a Cub fan, nor do I want/expect any sympathy. I think we're a franchise moving in the right direction and will get a championship someday! Good luck Phillies fans... anyone who can beat the Mets is ok in my book.

anyone who can beat the Mets is ok in my book. I will 2nd that. 1969 was the worse year (for me) to be a Cubs fan. But like the saying goes: Anything that doesn't kill you makes you stronger. ('69 almost killed me)
