Is it just me or do you guys also think the Pistons are going to be the same team next season except for small trades and/or  FA signings? I think Joe Dumars just wanted to tell his players that he wasn't happy with the way they played. The team is made of players who were turned into all-star caliber (exept for Rasheed Wallace) players because of Joe D and I think he has a strong relationship with all of them that he wont trade them. I think they will end up just getting a big Center and moving Antonio McDyess to a backup. Its something I think will happen just wonering if you guys fell the same way.

i agree with you on this. Last year everyone expected a shakeup and nothing hapened with the core guys. ithink it will be the same this offseason even though i wuld like to see sheed get traded for a big post presence even if it isnt all-star caliber. Look t what Perkins did this postseason for Boston. The Pistons core will remain for one more shot at a title.

I think Joe Dumars really did try to make a trade, but he could not get decent value in return.  No one seems to want an aging star with concerns they are past their prime.  I think the Pistons starters have a lot of game left, and they are not about to make a trade that makes the team worse in the short term.

I also think you're right, even if they don't make a trade they still shake up the team for next year.  Don't think Curry will let them forget...  he is a bulldog.  If they don't make a trade they will still see Wallace contract expire...  perhaps go after the huge free agent class at the end of next year.  That class includes LeBron James and a few other blockbuster players!

It's the master plan of Joe D to make it as though no teams want these aging has beens, so that it turns them back into the hungry underdog ballers they need to be.

I strongly agree, I think that Joe is going through the motions to show that he meant what he said by stating that no one is untouchable, but he is knowingly setting the bar high so that no other executives would even accept a trade for what he wants in return. That should be enough to get the competitive juices going in these guys, we still need to add a quality C though, and I still like Camby as a defensive fit to our team but really as long as we can move Sheed back to the 4 we should be fine, we just need a legit big man who does one of the following 1.) A defensive force, (Camby) or 2.) one with some offensive post moves (Kwame Brown J/K). The thing is there aren't many true centers out there that are worth a damn. In the 90's we had Olajiwon, Ewing, Robinson, Shaq (In his prime) and of course the Greatest C of all time Will Purdue!

I think Joe D is honestly looking to make a deal. It is still early on the trade front. Most big summer trades occur in late-July or August. All of last seasons starters still have some game and he isn't going to give any of them away.

Even without any trades we still may see changes in who gets what time next season with the bigs. Johnson and Samb may push for more minutes this season. Both have supposedly bulked up. Samb is 7-1 and with some bulk is bonifide center. He has improved faster than the Pistons expected and is the Pistons most wanted big in a trade according to rumors. I don't think McDyess's knees can handle another season of starter's minutes. Sheed lost all interest in playing inside. I wouldn't be surprised if both get there minutes cut next season if they are still on the roster.
