I've watched many a fight on HBO, and completely disagree with Floyd's assesment that the network praises only white and Latin fighters, while ignoring black fighters.

Like pretty much every other boxing network, publication, website, etc., HBO, based on what I've seen and heard, regarded Floyd as what he was...the best pound for pound fighter in the world.

Furthermore, HBO has employed, as their ringside analysts, the likes of George Foreman, Emmanuel Stewart, Roy Jones, Jr., and Lennox Lewis.  The last time I checked, all of these gentlemen were black.  Therefore, Floyd's unfortunate comments are not only an indictment of HBO, but of these men in particular.

I hope Floyd re-thinks what he has said because I truly believe that his comments are way, way off base.

Gosh, it sure is a shame that the slave-driving racists at HBO had the audacity to pay Roy Jones Junior, Mayweather, Jermain Taylor, Shane Mosely, Vernon Forrest, and Lennox Lewis all those millions of dollars to clean house and work in the kitchen. Mayweather is a freaking idiot. He's just unable to hide his clear racial animosity because someone other than a black athlete is sharing some of his limelight. This is the same television network that has made him a household name and over-hyped his ridiculous sparring exhibitions against the likes of Gatti, Baldomir, and Henry Brusseles to the tune of millions upon millions. Don't bite the hand that feeds you, "Money" May! Try to have some freaking class.

And before anybody brands me a racist for being from Mississippi, realize that I'm an ACLU - card-carrying liberal that's all for suing someone for firing a black man or denying a citizen of the U.S. any right because of his or her race, religion, or opinion. What I'm not for is someone rattling the cages with completely inane "race-card" B.S. when anyone that knows a thing about boxing realizes that HBO has done everything in its power to make Mayweather a super-star.

No wonder this guy was hated by everyone public.  All he does is talk and talk and talk, flash his millions - but ducks the big fights.  Big deal: he beat De La Hoya 10 years past his prime, Gatti, and Baldomir was another scintillating PPV event - the last 2 was like watching old people eat.  He doesn't have the stones to step in the ring with Cotto or Margarito, because he already turned down fights with both.  I have great respect for black fighters like Sugar Ray Leonard, Tommy Hearns, and Evander Holyfield - guys that didn't duck the big fights, weren't afraid to get hit, and when they did go down - got right back up.  Stay retired Moneybags Mayweather, no one will ever remember you in the same light as the three I just mentioned and so many more.  In the meantime, I can't wait for the real Welterweight Championship fight on July 26!

i agree riverrock........floyd way off base.   he truly is a great fighter but he is as racist as they come.  i'd REALLY like to see him in an mma fight against bj penn so he could get his ass handed to him!!!  bj would make short work of floyd.

Floyd for all his boxing talent and atleticism lacks maturity. I have heard both Jim Lampley and Larry Merchant rave over Roy Jones Jr., Mike Tyson, Larry Holmes, and Marvin Hagler just to name a few. Floyd needs to grow and above all realize that despite all his rants and raves about being the best boxer of all time is mainly his opinion due to ducking qualituy opposition. He should have fought Shane Mosely, Antonio Margarito, or Joshua Clottey just to name a few of the quality fighters of his era.

Floyd!!  Take a look at this HBO web link previewing the Pacquiao vs. Diaz fight.  It essentially implies that you were the best pound for pound fighter until your retirement, and Pacquiao has now stepped into that distinction.

Before you run your mouth, maybe you should do a little reading.  PUNK!!

Oh, yeah.....Pacquiao is from the Philippines....he's neither white nor Latino, but I'd love to see him kick your ass.  You deserve it.

I guess since Floyd retired he needs attention. Hes not going to stayed retired anyway. I really hope he burned that bridge with HBO and Showtime. If I'm not mistaken alot of the commentators on HBO are Afro American men. He is just jealous of other people getting the attention. Like I said I hope they blackball him for his mindless comments.
