d-65, not sure why this is so hard for you to understand. Green Bay won the first Super Bowl, but it wasn't called that at the time. It was called the AFL-NFL Championship game. So the Super Bowl is a Championship game. Hence me stating that they are the same thing. In 48 and 49 the AFL did not exist and the Eagles won the Championship game both years by shutout, something that wasn't done before or since. In 1960 the AFL formed, and the Eagles played in the NFL. The Eagles won the NFL Championship that year. In the 80's we had the USFL, so does that mean that the team that won the Super Bowl shouldn't be counted as a legit champion since there was another league, and the NFL Champ didn't face the USFL Champ? Honestly, I don't get why you say the Eagles haven't won a championship, which is what the Super Bowl is.

I'm not complaining about your past I'm saying you can't find anywhere on any website where Superbowls are in the same catagory as Championships,..........bring that proof and we can leave it be...............not your interpritation, bring proof like I did to back up my points

The following is directly off of the Green Bay Packers website:   "The Green Bay Packers have won more championships -- 12 -- than any other team in National Football League history.

They won their first three by league standing (1929, 1930 and 1931), and nine since the NFL's playoff system was established in 1933 (1936, 1939, 1944, 1961, 1962, 1965, 1966, 1967 and 1996)."   - I'm sure that every team who has won championships before and after the Superbowl Era lists them together as well.

When I mentioned current state of the team, I was talking about the recent history of the teams, not ancient history.  And in NFL terms 1997 is even ancient history with only a handful of players from that time still in the league.

In my opinion you can be dominant over a certain group without winning championships, in this decade 2000-2007 the Eagles are 32-17 against the teams currently in the nfc east for a winning percentage of .653, and have won 5 out of 8 division titles.

Well living in Wisconsin and being an Eagles fan, I hope you don't mind me turning it around a bit.  Why all the hate for the Bears and Vikings?

The Cowboys are rivals in our division and even though there are many fanatics for both our teams I suspect most of us are just avid fans not lunatics.

I don't care either way about the Bears or Vikings.   That's, in part, because their fans know who their teams are (Denny Green reference intended)...good franchises that have had their ups and downs, but no significant periods of NFC dominance.

In my experience, Bears-fan and Vikings-fan both make regular and proper use of the words 'if', 'should', and think'.  They're not generally delusional, self-important, or entitled.

Respect...

You started this thread, and i'm hoping you are following its progress....I am sure you remember me.

If you wanted to start a thread about Cowboy hate, then you sure came to the right place. No place on Earth does Cowboy Hate shine brighter than in Philly, and I mean this as a compliment to Eagle fans. Other fans of division rivals may argue, but Philiadelphia is the Heavyweight Champion of the World of hating the Cowboys, and they do a fantastic job of it. Personally...I wouldn't have it any other way. If you are going to be hated, why not be hated by the people who wrote the book on it ( when I speak of hate, you know I mean it metaphorically, and not literaly, even  though some Eagle fans would disagree ). There is no greater animosity that exists than that which exists in the NFC East, particularly the Cowboys. You may think you hate the Bears, but you could certainly learn a thing or two about hating a team from these fans.

I love it...Philly fans are not only hateful but creative. They have to be, with us throwing our rings in their face every chance we get. If we win another 10 SB before they win 1, they will only be that much more committed to telling us how much we suck....You have to give it to them, they are, if anything, loyal.

Throughout this thread, Eagle fans have made mention of how much they despise the " bandwagon " Cowboy fan that grew up outside of Dallas. As residents of Philadelphia, I would think that they we hold fast to the American right of freedom of choice, as Philadelphia is the birthplace of the American government. The Cowboys are, after all, America's team, right? Freedom of choice, gentlemen.

That last part was only to piss off Eagle fans, which is my birthright by being born in IRVING, the real home of the Dallas Cowboys, not Dallas. The point is that per our previous argument, we ARE America's Team, and this thread that you started only serves to support my argument.

...As for the Cowboy hating, you should leave it to the professionals...meaning Eagle Fan.

Well said, FearWare...

But, while your 'freedon of choice' notion is cute... bandwagoneering is an abuse of natural law...Dallas or not.
