I totally agree that they overspent for Renteria, but the 3 players I feel have been snubbed, have got to be Magglio Ordonez, Placido Polanco, and Armando Gallaraga.
- Mags- I know he's injured, but you can't argue with his production. Past production aside (MLB title last year), he is a phenomenol clutch hitter. He's batting .307 with 12HR, while Ichiro is hitting .304 with only 3 HR. Ichiro is a singles machine, but he doesn't have the power Mags has.
- Polanco- Look at the stats- .313 BA & .406 Slugging %, and he plays great defense. Sorry, but he is playing better then Padroia.
- Gallaraga- Did any one see this guy coming out and having a 7-2 record? He's been the best starting pitcher in their rotation. How does he not get a nod more then Guillen?
The thing that is most annoying is that if you're spending what the Tigers are on their roster, you would think there would be more then 1 All-Star. But then again, money doesn't always buy championships (with the exception of the 1997 Marlins-who's roster has many familiar faces on Detroit-Sheff, Pudge, Renteria & not to mention management Leyland & Dombrowski).
