A shame you say?   Would  it be a shame if Federer or Sampras won the french?  Not only was yesterday's match great for Wimbeldon, it was great for tennis.  Tennis has suffered from lack of competition and lack of personalities and Nadal is the shot in the arm tennis fans have been waiting for.  If all that went over your head Geaux, I understand the ignorance of your comment.

The all England Club made a conscious choice to improve the quality of the men's tennis. The sport was being taken over by the equipment at Wimbledon and they chose to slow the play down, by switching out the grass.
Since that time, we've seen more epic matches and guys like Nadal/Federer winning at the baseline. For one, I appreciate this type of tennis, one the other hand, it was pretty awesome watching guys pound serves and show off their skills at the net. Unless Wimbledon changes back to the old grass, it looks like the days of serve and volleying as a legitimate skill set in tennis is over.
That may be a natural change if we continue to see the type of tennis witnessed yesterday. That match was adrenaline packed from start to finish and will go down as one of the greatest matches played to date and will most likely be argued over as one of the best matches for a long time.
Losing serve and volleying may be a small price to pay for that sort of tennis battle.

Anyone who thinks yesterday's match was a shame must not truly be a fan of the game. I don't know whether you are an extreme Federer fan or just a Nadal hater, but yesterday's match was incredible and I guarantee no one at the all England Club felt disgraced after watching the show those guys put on. I myself am a huge Federer fan, and I don't particularly like Nadal. But I gained much respect for both men after watching yesterday, and I hope that this kind of tennis is played between the two again next year.

I'm a purist I like the Old surface . I did'nt realize they changed it . I was trying to figure out why there was no more serve and volleying . Nadal would have never won on the old grass.

I assure you, the all England Club did not feel disgraced yesterday.  The Williams sisters and Federer v. Nadal in the 2 finals.  It was a perfect finale to the two weeks that were turned upside down by uspets.  These 2 are so much fun to watch.

just wanted to say hi to all the rafael nadal haters,       you guys should not even be watching tennis. nadal just won 2 great grands slams in 1 yr.  no one has won 2  these 2 titles in the same year since bjorn borg.   im glad i got to see this match and this is the reason i watch tennis. .  also will bring more attention to this great sport.    but i guess some people dont like to see 2 young great tennis players go toe to toe.  and by the way nadal is on 22 yrs old. so you hate to burst you bubble haters you will be seein more of his for years to come.
