BSU_blue....hopefully we play OU twice this year....once in Regular season..then CCG...you'd better be cheering for the cats...
BA......had a friends kid go to Broncos camp last week and he said Pete seems to be concentrating on defensive recruits in his opinion right now....he also said he and other recruits were put off by all the Fiesta Bowl references and the Blue Turf and the lack of quality teams on the future schedule....just food for thought...that is coming from a several very highly sought after recruits....not me.... I won't tell you who is is yet until he commits to someone.....if your lucky..he will still choose BSU....it would be good for you.....
Interesting comments too. I can understand some recruits being put off by the blue. When I first arrived at BSU, I thought the turf sucked. I know it's signature item for the program now, and it's grown on me, but I'ld definitely be ok if we went back to green.
And I can understand the lack of quality opponents as well. But the Fiesta Bowl game a turn off? WOW!
they way he put it was they made to big of a deal about it....when your being recruited by other schools that go to BCS regularly...... you don't want to hear it as their main selling point at BSU..I'm just passing on what he said....he said that is all everyone kept pushing all week...he felt it was like they don't care if they get back..he wanted to hear about the future goals....not what has been....he said we(recruits) all know what schools have done....we don't need to hear about it...tell me what you can do for me! Sounds like normal 17 year olds to me.
That's interesting that he said they are harping on the Fiesta Bowl. Seemed the Coach Pete and the rest of the coaches were ready to put that behind them. I can certainly understand the recruits point of view... "don't tell me what happened in the past, tell me what you're going to do to keep this program (and the kids) successful in the future".
BA...it's probably not Pete..assistants can be a little one minded sometimes and go away from what head coach wants...he did say Pete was the one ignoring the Offensive players though and talking all defense...that is bad in my mind even if you need all help on D...if you have good young talent interested in your school...red shirt them for the future...
what do you think about..if your school(BSU) has 2 recruits...one say rates 70 on rivals...and the other is say 40 or 50..but the kid rated 40 or 50 has only interest in playing at BSU..and the 70 kid is looking at several....who would you want Pete to sign....
just curious....I've seen the same thing happen at KSU....and it seems in my experience....the kids who love your school...play harder and end up better...I mean lets face it...it's like the polls....it's just someones opinion...I've always felt..take the kid who wants to be there and only there...
I'm with ya on that one Cat. I'ld take the kid (ranked higher or lower doesn't matter) who really wants to be at my school and would play his heart out for me. But then again, I'm not privy to what the coaches are thinking.
I've also heard that the coaches are concentrating on the D side for recruits. Hope they don't let any good O side recruits get away because they're concentrating to hard on the other.
It seems rather strange that our coaches would still be on the Bowl thing. After all, that's what let the team down last year. They lost that mentality to give the extra effort. So basically it was a "look at what we did" and not a "work to get there again" effort. It cumulated in go
