Brett Favre dismissed an ESPN report that he's considering coming out of retirement as "all rumor." Favre responded Wednesday to the report by telling his hometown newspaper, the Biloxi Sun Herald, that "it's all rumor." The paper reported that Favre sent a text message saying there's "no reason" for a media frenzy. ESPN reported that an unidentified Packers source said the 38-year-old Favre told coach Mike McCarthy in the past two weeks that he has the itch to play. The Wisconsin State Journal adds that in those conversations, Favre and the Packers didn't particularly see eye-to-eye, and the talks ended with Favre requesting his release, which the club refused. Furthermore, Sports Illustrated contributor and former NFL executive Mike Lombardi told Sirius NFL Radio Wednesday that he thinks it's "80/20" in favor of Favre returning. Here we go again with Favre and his on-again, off-again decision to play football. The Packers might be balking at Favre returning because they're moving forward with Rodgers and drafted two rookie QBs in April (one being Brian Brohm).

Just seen fanball and says "Peter King of SI stated that Brett Favre wants to play football again, but the Packers do not want him to. Favre has reportedly told coach Mike McCarthy that he wants to return. King also expects Favre's agent to send a letter to the Packers within the next 10 days, indicating that Favre wants to be taken off the NFL's reserve/retired list. At that time, the team will have no choice but to re-admit Favre back to football. The Packers can take Favre and his $12.8-million cap number back onto the club and give him his starting role back, or they can trade him, or they release him. "

I think that Favre should come back.  Favre's mother stated that Favre has felt as if isn't wanted or welcome in green bay ( not including the fans)  for the past 3 years.  I think if he does come back it would be for a different team.

bret favre is not goin to come back to the nfl. he has accomplished enough to call it quits. he has nothin left to prove in his career. he has every record imaginable and he has a super bowl ring. he is a first ballot hall of famer. he needs to just sit home and relax with his family. his legacy will never die as long as people can remember it. he is a nfl icon. he is one of a few that never were in the media for anything bad. he is a great football player. so no he wont come back.

Not sure if he really will or not . . . . but if I were him, I wouldn't!! Not worth it. He has set the bar pretty high . . . . . his career just doesn't need the bad ending . . . . . . . end on top, not heading down . . . . . anyone remember a great player named Jordan finishing his career as a Wizard after retiring . . . . the second time . . . . man, that would be bad to be in that kind of company . . . .

He was for the most part awful throughout his career in the Metrodome.  Sounds like a suicide mission to me!

What about his addiction to Vicodin? I believe he had his share of shennanigans in the 90's. Favre has just played long enough to forget that he had his own growing up to do when he was younger.
