I think 31 homers and 90 RBI's is serious wishful thinking. He has been terrible this year besides his game winning bomb off of Jimmy Gobble. The sox have been good without him..i just hope he doesnt screw it up too much.
DJ is right in regards to Roberts. Why do we need him? Ramierez is doing quite fine, especially at the bargain of 4 years, $4.5 million if I'm not mistaken. If the Cubs or anyone else could not pry Roberts from Baltimore, there is no way in hell the Sox could obtain him. And come on, Uribe would be the bargaining chip? I dont care how bad Baltimore is doing, they're not dumb enough to agree to that deal.
atomicpunk brings up a good point about us really needing Roberts, which begs the question - who / what does this White Sox team need right now to make them successful in 08?
I would like to see Konerko gone, and I love the guy. He's been nothing but a class act for this club, but I don't think we really need him anymore. To move both him and Thome doesn't make much sense and Uribe is a tough bargaining chip with the trade deadline coming up. I say if we can get anything for Konerko or Thome, let's invest in future pitching. We don't need any position players right now, and I still think Ozzie needs to let Fields play more at both DH and 3rd base during off days for regulars.
I do agree with both comments about Roberts and trade. I like Alexi but I am not comfortable with his offense. He has proven me with his defense.
All the Thome doubters better get ready, he was 4-4 and average is up to .240. Thome is the greatest baseball representative. I was able to talk with him at Spring Training a year ago and he was so polite, contained the passion, and all he wants is a Championship. He can carry a team for awhile.
My Konerko hopes might be a little high, especially sicne he is hitting 6th. My worry is that Quentin starts a downward slide. He will hit 30 HRs but he is only 11 away. He has looked aweful the last couple games.
Gordon, I dont know how you can't feel comfortable w/ Ramierez's offense. Sure, he is an aggressive hitter and always swings at the 1st pitch but he's now hitting over .300. He's getting it done w/out the walks.
Hahahah. Now that's funny. Paulie will be lucky if he can get his BA to .250. I mean I do hope you're right Gordon, but he's been sucking up the plate since last season. Let's hope he doesn't fall below .200 Lol. Sorry fellas, really I should be supporting Paulie, but the way he looks at the plate, it's almost as if he's always uncomfortable at the plate. Sheesh, watching him makes me uncomfortable.
