So it looks like the the Sixers have traded Rodney Carney, Calvin Booth and a Future 1st round pick to the Timberwolves for about 5 1/2 million in Cap Space, i guess they will be going hard for Brand or Smith. I personally want Josh Smith, Brand scares me at 29 coming off that terrible injury, but if we do get Brand and he is Healthy watch out they could shake up the East.

I dont know if this is the right move.

I think if somehow we could have substituted Willie Green for carney. Carney was our best 3 shooter.

P.S. Thank god i dont have to see Calvin Booth on the floor with the sixers ever again.

Somehow I think that this is all a smoke screen to make teams that might be interested in the same players as the Sixers to make rash moves.  I can't see how the Sixers think that signing Brand is a better move than going after Smith, although I'm not sold on Smith because we already have a bunch of players who thrive in fast breaking and can't shoot from the outside to save their soul.  They still lack a shooting guard/3 point shooter, and there's no way that Iguodala will ever ever be a shooting guard unless he works on it, and he hasn't done that in the four years he's been in the league.  I'm for moving some players and getting back players that fit positions rather than athletes who you just throw out there and hope fill a position.  This team is still a few years away because the talent to compete for a championship isn't there yet and may never be.  Eddie knows that if he doesn't make the right moves that this team will have to be blown up and pieces brought in to finish the puzzle.

Actually it only looks like 2 and some change million, with all the holes the Sixers have i can't believe they think they can win the championship with this team, even Brand who when healthy is a monster only makes them contenders in the east they still have needs and Andre Miller is getting up there. I think they need to start With Thad, Speights, Jason Smith and trade the rest of the team and look to win the whole thing in 2011 or 12 P.S they could trade Smith also and i wouldn't mind. I wish Philly teams would stop just trying to compete and try to win a championship!!

You think that team could compete with  the Celtics, Lakers, Spurs, Pistons Jazz, Magic and the pretty much the rest of the Western conference playoff teams? I don't if the team you named finishes in the top 5 in the East this year?

adding Brand (healthy) or Josh Smith... we could absolutely compete with Spurs, Pistons, and Magic. The elite teams like Lakers, Boston, no probably not. Even with Elton or Josh we are pieces away from truly competing for a Championship.

I honestly would lean more toward Josh Smith. I know a healthy Elton Brand is a better player right now. But the age and proven health of Smith trump Brands 1-2 more years of All Star play.

In two years with Smith, Andre I., Young and Speights... who knows. maybe if we upgrade PG or C next summer, i'd lean towards yes. That team can compete.
