heres what im thinking ( hopeing ) hendry has up his sleeves.. it may be possible he has 2 starters on his " to get " list. one being harden and the other may be burnett or wolf.. my guess he figured why give up all his prospects on 1 guy when he can give up basically the same amount and get 2 starters.
im all for zambrano, dempster , and lilly.. sabathia would have been nice but i think hendry and lou are looking to rid of marquis and would like a veteran in the 5 hole over marshall and gallagher.. if the prices are right, id rather see harden and burnett in our rotation over sabathia and either marquis, marshall, or gallagher this year...
Bearz, while I hope you're right, I for one don't know if we have enough to get Harden alone let alone Harden and another one. I don't think its neccesary either. One upgrade will be plenty. Z, whoever, Lilly, Dempster, and one of our 4 # 5s, my guess will be Sean Marshall that way there are two lefties in the rotation, unless he gets shipped off.
I really hope we get Harden also. Just would be nice to add another starter in there an bolster the bullpen with Gallagher and Marshall. The price will be very high for Harden but I think Hendry will figure out something to make the deal. He must do something to answer the Sabbathisa trade.
I agree with Ok_Cubsfan...two would be nice but I think we only need one. I for one would be more than happy if we find someone to replace marquis and keep Marshall in the 5 spot. I don't trust Marquis down the strecth let alone in a playoff game! While a healthy Harden would make our rotation much better I think harden, burnett, or wolf would be an upgrade at this point. Right now the Cubs are going to feel the pressure to make a move after the Brewers got Sabathia. Hopefully Hendry can pull the trigger and bring in one of these starters for the second half!
We have a big 5 game stretch here of home games before the All Star break...looking at the Cubs schedule following the break I think we need to take at least 4 out of 5 against the Reds and Giants going into the break.
