The sixers get a good player in free agency and the wolves get another first round pick.

I like the idea of this, but aren't the wolves required by NBA rules to give something/someone that equivalent in salary to the two players?  It would be very interesting if this deal works though.  That means the Timberwolves would have amassed a total of 4 first round draft picks for next year.  Maybe Kevin Garnett's leaving has finally allowed McHale to make some intelligent trades.  I'm still bitter over the Randy Foye for Brandon Roy trade, but other than that, there's not a lot of decisions that I can question him on recently.

yeah I can't wait to hear what the punchline is on this one...
it should be better than the Korver "deal"

Yeah, I like this deal too, assuming it plays out as reported.

The jury is still out on Carney, he could still be very good.  Plus, the Wolves snatch up that pick.  Won't necessarily be for 2009, but additional 1st rounders in any draft are good!

Interesting gamble by the Sixers.  There's no guarantee they'll be able to do anything with the extra cap room this year.  My hunch is that Brand stays in LA, and the Sixers throw a HEAP of money at Josh Smith and pry him away from Atlanta.

Is there any word on how the pick is protected ( I assume it is)? And as an off topic point which one of these first rounders do the Clippers get to finaly finish the Jaric deal?

The Jaric deal the first round is top ten protected through 2011.  Then after that it is unprtected so the Clipers will have to wait awhile by which time the wolves will be a playoff team again. (Maybe)

Somehow nothing the Sixers do ends up benefitting the team.  They have yet to land any decent free agents that I can recall.
