OK, so it is okay for a black run network to show racist television, because it is relevant to what they show
Why do many want to quickly point at comedians on BET as a counter to an arguement. The comedians on BET do make jokes about White people but they also make jokes about Black people in the same set. Most do it as comparisons of the differences in the races but the slam their own race too. And the audience laughs. Since some of you have compared the first couple pages of this thread to Black comedians, I should assume that we will see 3-4 pages of stereotypical jokes that target you specific race/ethnic group right? Or is it easier to be a hypocrit?
If blacks wouldn't commit more crimes there wouldn't be more of them in prison. It's that simple. There is no "man" trying to keep the brotha down.Actually, if you do the research you will see that Whites do in fact get arrested more than Blacks but yet go to jail less often. You should also look up punishment differences. If you did I'm sure you wll see that Blacks are sentenced longer FOR THE EXACT SAME CRIMES as their white couterparts. In fact, I had a few links to this on another thread about 2 weeks ago. I will try to remember the name of that thread, but feel free to look it up yourself. Education is more rewarding when you do the work
Mayeb because white males had the biggest influence on this country. Just a thought. Maybe you should ponder it. Why should we celebrate every black guy like the peanut farmer, we don;t celebrate every white innovater.
Nobody wants to celebrate every Black innovator in history. Besides, the reason for Black History month was because Black history wasn't being taught. I know Black history is nowhere near as large in the US as White history but it still shouldn't be completely ommitted. Also it's not just Black people, there is a Latin-American heritage month as well as a month for Women. I find it interesting that most of you that disapprove of Black history month and voice that opinion never say anything about these other months until it's brought up by others.
BET is racist in name and concept
I can agree with this. Although BET came about at a time when Black people weren't being properly represented on television. There were only images of Blacks being crooks and drug users at the time. Even the Black shows all featured poor Black families, with the exception of the Cosby Show. By the time Blacks started getting good representation, the station was in full swing. As of today, I personally thing BET is a disgrace to Black people and have stopped watching it for years now. Also stations rarely change the name of their brodcast channels, if they did it often MTV would have a different name.

Do you know the ratio of Black vs non-Black children in the social service programs? It's worth a look. If this is in any way regarding welfare, you would be amazed to find out their are alot more white people on welfare than black people. If I'm not mistaken, there are also more hispanics. I might be wrong on the last part though.
Do you think we like getting robbed by crack heads?
More robberies in the US are done by whites. More whites are drug users.
