over the next few weeks you will see the Cardinals do whatever it takes to bring in another pitcher asap. With the acquisitions the Brewers and the Cubs have just made, it looks like a 2-horse race unless the Cards can match both teams by landing a real good starter. There's not much out there to choose from at this point though. I predict that the Cards will be about 10 games out of first within a month.

I would love to see the Brewers and Cubs in the NLCS. That would be epic. I think the Cubs have too much for the Brewers, but it would be an exciting series.

The arms race is on, we got the better deal didn't give up as much as the Brewers + we didn't rent a player for 2.5 months

Harden             77IP     5 - 1    2.34 ERA     92 K 31 BB

Gandin             62IP     5 - 3    3.59 ERA     44 K 17 BB

Sabathia          122IP   6 - 8    3.89 ERA     123 K 43 BB

I'm not a Cubs fan by a long shot, but all I have to say is D**N!!!  The Cubs just got a lot better.  After the Sabathia trade, I was thinking the Brewers were going to come out on top.  Now I'm right back with Cubs.  This trade not only makes them a N.L. Central favorite but a legitimate World Series contender.  And these guys are young.  This should knock Marquis down to the bullpen, which is where I feel that he has always played best.  Harden, assuming he stays healthy, is a very good pitcher.  He also will match up well with the Cubs athletic defense.  And Gaudin is solid himself.  I have personally used him several times as a fill-in pitcher in fantasy and he has rarely disappointed me.  Great move.

Hey, the managed to get rid of that flop in Patterson even.  Nice work.  Cubs management did their job this year.

Wouldn't be surprised to see the Cards try to land McGowan.  He is a pitcher with a lot of upside.  And with how the Blue Jays have done recently, he may have become expendable.

What the Cards really need is a closer.  Ishr-whatever hasn't faired well this year.  Maybe a trade for Sherrill or Saito (if the Dodgers find themselves too deep in the hole) may also be a possibility.  They could get Sherrill for cheap, too.

Should help both clubs

Cubs gave up only Gallagher that they wanted for Harden and Gaudin.

A's get three players who can potentially help now.

For whatever reason the Cubs didn't like Murton. Patterson was proven to be a 2b ONLY player because of what the White Sox did to him in LF (I mean Juan Pierre's ARM looks like Roberto Clemente next to this kid LOL).

Now will Oakland move Mark Ellis to give Patterson more playing time?

Definitely a great move by the Cubs.  They landed a great pitcher for practically nothing.

What all of you Cubs fans fail to realize is that the Brewers are gearing up for Yovani Gallardo to return to the rotation in September.  In my opinion he's easily a top 5 pitcher in the NL when he's healthy.  Cubs can't top the Brewers' top 3 starters.

THREE WORDS:  SHEETS, SABATHIA, GALLARDO
