Seriously, who really gives a kaka about the past?
who relly gives a kaka about how many UL/UK players are in the NBA and have titles/rings? I know I don't.
How many cats fans in this thread have an education? it appears that at least one does and that at least one DOESN'T. Again, who really cares?
Who cares that in 7 years Petino did "..." at KY and that in 8 years Petino hasn't done "..." at UofL? There are several reasons for this:
1) Parity: kids are learning a lot more at alot earlier ages these days and have many more resources to better themselves than they did in the past...summer camps, clinics, etc... hell, I'm teaching my kids stuff at 11 and 6 that I didn't learn until I was in high school. I teach them every opportunity I get and I practice with them when they want to...that gives them more opportunity than I really ever realisticaly had when I was their age.
2) Crum, God love him was a great coach and we probably should have treated him better his last year but the fact remains that his systems weren't getting it done anymore and we couldn't pass up the opportunity to get coach P and settle for a lesser coach - actually, we probabaly could have, but that's neither here nor their and we probably wouldn't be in the position we are right now if we had. We weren't able to obtain the best recruits and Crum's tactics were becomeing tired instead of tried and true.
Ricky P. hasn't gotten the program there yet, but he's getting closer and he's got some of the best tallent coming this way to continue this improvement. If UNC played against UL like they did against KU, we would have been playing for the NC this year. If they played KU like they did against us, there would probably be a differen't National Champion, but again, WHO CARES about the shoulda woulda couldas...
3) With the mandatory 1 year NCAA B-ball stint, the parity will increase even more and there will not be any time wasted trying to recruit NBA calliber players who'll skip college to play pro...it's getting more difficult for any team to win an NCAA title. UofL WILL win one soon under coach P. Will UK - under anyone? Possibly and I'll be pulling for them as a Kentuckian (unless they play UL - and possibly KU now [KU MBA]).
