Ok let me start by saying that the A's got jacked, robbed, molested, in that trade. They did not even get one top prospect back, all they got were potential roll players with no star potential, all Matt Murton is, is a roll player that has been playing off the bench most of his career. Patterson has been a big league bust, and I have never even heard of that other guy. You guys couldent even have the Cubs throw in a Felix Pie? How dumb are you? Billy Bean is an absolute joke in my eyes right now. He let the Cubs get away with highway robbery, and you gave up Gaudin too. This is probably going to go down as one of the biggest trade flops in MLB history from the A's point of view. Damn I justr hope that my Mariners can get more for Bedard than what the Athletics got for Rich Hardin.

Ok first off before i even talk about this trade you need to back off cheezeheadxx. How does a Mariners fan get off calling Billy Bean a Joke?? Actually how can anyone call Bean a joke for that matter. I want you to just look at the A's record over the last 8 years and there payroll and then look at the Mariners record over the same period and there payroll and then tell me who the joke is.

All that aside i am confused by this move. I think we were close enough to contenting for a wild card spot to were we should have been buyers not sellers or just left thing alone and see were the chips fall. When i first heard about Harden getting traded i didnt here for who and i thought well that sucks but im sure we got some good prospects and we can plug Chad Gaudin in his spot and still make due. But then i see all the players involved in this trade and to my dismay we shipped Chad along with Harden and from first look i think we were on the short end of the stick on this one.

I hope im wrong and i really dont want to be an armchair GM and second guess Billy because he has proven he knows what hers doing time and time again so im just going to hold judgement on this one for awhile and see how it pans out.

Anyone out there have any more info on the guys we got in return. Matt Murton is about the only one i know off before this.

This is a horrble trade, these dudes are nothing more than fillers in Sacto. That damn Patterson lost his job to Reed Johnson, yes the same RJ who was flat out cut by the Jays. One of these dude is batting like 200 in the minors somewhere.

Holy Moly, Chi-town karma came back to bite us on the behind. Somewhere Kenny Williams is shining his Chicago belt buckle unttering "don't mess with Tex ur... Chicago!

Billy is too smart of a gm to get fleeced like this. Let's see Inoa signed 4.5, Ross 1.2 and Weeks 2. something. Let's face it, this was a salary a dump to offset those signings.

> .> I have been an A's fan long enough to know better then to critize Beane. The man did a decent job with this trade, loosening up an Oft-injured Rich Hardin and an overrated Chad Gaudin. Though I personally do not like non of the pieces we recieved in the trade outside of Shaun Gallagher, I can still see this trade paying some dividends in the future.

The only reason I'm posting is because I wanted to give you some information about the other players you got.

-Sean Gallagher was brought into the rotation when Carlos Zambrano went on the DL and has performed admirably. He's only 22, has great movement on his fastball, and his record and ERA is not indicative of his play. He had a bad game against the White Sox that inflated his numbers. I will definitely miss him and I believe that he will become a quality Major League starter.

-Matt Murton was a dependable fill-in in 2006 at left field. He has great vision, makes good contact and doesn't strike out much. He's a tough competitor who gives it his all, I'm glad he'll have more of an opportunity to play, as he just didn't get enough time in our already crowded outfield (especially after Soriano comes back).

-Eric Patterson has potential, but I'm not sold on him, much like his brother. He has speed, but his plate discipline is still lacking. His fielding is also sub-par, but he can be decent if he can correct those problems.

-Josh Donaldson is a minor league catching prospect who obviously has some upside, or else Beane would not have required the he be in the trade. I honestly don't know too much about him, so I can't really say anymore.

I hope these guys do right by the A's, as I objectively believe the Cubs got the better end of this deal, but I think that you'll like Sean Gallagher and I do believe that Matt Murton will produce if given the opportunity to play every day. I hope this sheds light on any questions, and good luck the the A's this season!

Now that I'm done throwing up I'll talk a little about this trade. No, BigPappa I know nothing about these players headed to Oaktown via Chi-town. I don't think anyone else really does either. That's not a good sign.

Harden must have been a free agent at the end of the year. Am I mistaken? If so, then of course the A's assume they won't be able to give him the fat contract he will demand. So they trade him away now to get something instead of nothing. But again, what kind of value do any of these players bring? The brass must know something we don't, right?

As a casual fan I just don't get this one. And this trade hurts more than any of the others in recent times. Rich Harden will be sorely missed. The best of luck to him in helping the Cubbies finally get over that hump come October.
