After blowing that heartbreaker in Fenway last night clearly our biggest vulnerability (outside of injuries with a thin infield) is middle relief.  I looked at some stats and found that:

If you take our pitching staff and break down wins/losses between starters and relievers (I removed Bonser and Liriano given their unique circumstances, but they're 3-9 combined);

Our current five-man rotation: 32-19

Our Relief Staff: 15-11

While relief pitchers do often come in in tough situations, the starter is typically responsible for the runners on base.  In order for relievers to take the loss they have to really lose it.  26 decisions and 11 losses are too many to absorb from the rested guys coming out of the pen.  And it's all the middle guys, because Nathan is 0-0.

I just don't think we have the bait to draw much trade talk, or at least I don't think the bait that would work are players we would want to trade.

I would like to see the Twins go out an get a veteran setup guy, but  I don't really see it happening.  We really miss Neshek.  It was like having a closer for the 8th inning.

I agree completely, Reyes is not a good setup man, and I still am not a Jesse Crain fan. I would love to see someone new in our bullpen.  They need it badly.

I'd like to see the Twins trade for a good relief pitcher and a power hitting 3B (Beltre or Atkins maybe).

I like Span and think he could be a good leadoff hitter, but I just don't see how he fits in with the Twins long term with Cuddyer, Gomez, and Young all in the outfield and Kubel DHing. I guess all four could platoon kind of like Ellsbury, Crisp, Ramirez, and Drew for the Red Sox, but I think Span has played well enough this year that he could be good trade bait to bring in either a 3B or relief pitcher.

I'd also like to see the Twins:

trade Hernandez for a prospect (like Ramon Ortiz for Macri), trade Bonser and maybe Span or another prospect for immediate help, get rid of Everett any way possible, same with Lamb
