They resigned Jamison & Arenas, some think they overpaid. Get over it. More than anything, this team needs to be healthy. I believe they can do some damage if they are (at least get passed Cleveland in the 1st round). I was puzzled to at their 1st round pick of JaVale McGee (who is a project). They already have Haywood, Thomas and last year's pick, Pecherov. Where does he fit? Most thought they should take PF Darrell Arthur (who would've been a better pick) but I was thinking they should take a SG, Courtney Lee or Nicolas Batum. Both would be an upgrade over Stevenson, who's antics are getting old. Are they cash strapped? They traded Billy Walker to Boston for cash. Why not pick a player you can actually use? Potential line up:

G-G. Arenas/A. Daniels

G-D. Stevenson/N. Young

F-C. Butler/D. McGuire

F-A. Jamison/A. Blatche/D. Songaila

C-B. Haywood/E. Thomas/O. Pecherov/J. McGee

Less trash talking and more health would be ideal. They should win more than 43 games next season or is that wishful thinking?

I don't think they overpaid for Arenas, they DID overpay.  By about 5 million dollars per year.  I question the McGee draft too, kind of reminds me of Peter John Ramos (shudder).  We lost JCN to the Grizzlies, and it looks like we will never get that draft pick from them, and we could've used a true PG in my opinion.  Pecherov doesn't have the skill set and size to play center, and will have to be used as a 3 or 4 who takes outside shots.  I still like Stevenson, he plays good defense and can hit the three, a great sixth man in my opinion, antics or no antics.

The jury is still out on Arenas, two knee surgeries in one year...I hope he has a great doctor.  If he can return to 2006-2007 form and the Wizards stay healthy they can be a good two or three seed in the playoffs.  But without a dominant low post player or pass first point guard, I can't see them getting out of the first round, and if they somehow do, definitely not the second round.

Have to agree with Mtro.  Overpaid way too much for Arenas.  I also think they overpaid for Jamison.  No center.  No true PG.  Small bench.  And no D beyond Stevenson.  Get ready for maybe 50 wins mostly of the 120 - 118 variety.  This will not get it done in the playoffs.

Eddie Jordan really needs to get NY some playing time this year.  He may not be a great defender but he won't get better sitting on the bench.

I don't know about Nick Young, he's like Caron Butler without the defense...or offense for that matter.  Again, just another shoot first player who can erupt at anytime but can't sustain consistency long enough to really make an impact on the team.  Consistency is what you need in the NBA, not explosiveness.  Caron Butler is very rarely explosive, but he gives you the same game night after night, and he and Jamison are the reason the Wizards even win games.  Two old school ballers who know what it takes to get it done.  Too bad they got hot shot blog-boy on the team for the next six years to not pass the ball and let guys take score on him all night.

The team is better without Arenas unless Arenas is 100% healthy.  I wish they would've just let him go and we could've taken our chances next off-season with the draft and 12 million more to spend on Free Agency.  This team can't win anything with this lineup anyway, so why would one off year really matter?

I mean the Wizards can probably win 40-45 games without Arenas, so why should they win 40-45 games with 21 million more against the cap if he's on the team?  Sorry to seem like such a downer, but signing a guy who barely played last year to a six year 111 million dollar contract is absurd, especially since he's the kind of guy who tells the media before his coach that he can't go during a playoff game and this same guy that claimed he'd be generous and not take the extra 16 million over his 6 year contract because "What can I do with 127 million that I can't with 111 million?"
Well..what the hell can you do with 111 million that you can't with 90 million?  If you want to be a team player and help a team who still needs that one extra player in order to get over the hump, then why would you say you're opting out of a contract unless the team offers you the max a year before said contract gives you the clause to opt out of?

I know all the kids love Gil in D.C., and I know he gives the team national credibility (more for star appeal than talent though) but I think this contract just put the Wizards in limbo for the next half decade.

Sounds like a bunch of little girls in here if it was 06 no one would have a problem with the contract but its 08 i understand that but u gotta remember Hibatchi put the Wizards back on the map and even in the playoffs something even MJ couldnt do. So lose this what have u done for me lately attitude and just try remember how great he was and how great he will be when healthy next season they should win at least 50 and be able to make a serious playoff run.  Agent 0 isnt finished yet and im ready for him to fire up that hibatchi next season on the entire league!!!!
