So I have NHL 08 for Ps2. I think this might be a glitch, but i need help, here goes:
Im a Pittsburgh fan so yesterday i was updating the rosters (putting Satan and Fedotenko on the team) so the lines changed automatically. I also like Hal Gill paired on the 3rd defensive line. He was on the 1st line, so I tried to put him on the 3rd d pairing and it said: (player already exists on different line) or sumthing like that. So I put Letang in the 3rd d line and the 1st to take out Gill. So I try to put Gill back in the 3rd D line. Does not work. No matter what I do. The thing is, at this year's trade deadline, when I traded Gill to the Pens because it happened in real life, I COULD put him on the 3rd d line. Now I CANT. Whats the problem?

I don't have a PS2, and the only suggestion I can give you is this, get an Xbox 360. Iv bought an elite (the black one) and I have never had a problem with my NHL 08 game. I don't know if you have the money or the desire to change systems, but thats all I can suggest.
The only problems I have with the whole Xbox shabang, is that most games range from 40-60 bucks. Im a pretty big gamer though, so I make the money well worth spent
All aside, good luck with your glitch, hope it works out.

I have 08 for Ps2 so if it says player exsist on other line go through the rest of your lines, 1,2 PP, PK etc....Then take him off any of those lines and put him on D-3. Usually the case is that he is on a forward line

Oh boy, where do I begin?
First of all, suggesting a system upgrade over a glitch(which really isn't a glitch) in a game on his ps2 is absolutely ridiculous. Especially "upgrading" to a 360. The 360 is known for the "Red ring of death." If you don't know what this is, this is what happens. Randomly, out of nowhere, you'll turn on your 360 and instead of loading up you'll see a red ring around around the power button. This means your system is royally screwed. Next step is to send it back to Microsoft for a replacement. Simple, right? Wrong. Microsoft takes four or five weeks to get you your replacement and treats you like total garbage. Seven of my friends have had this problem with the 360, guess how many of my friends have a 360. Seven. One of my buddies it's happened five times to. He got fed up and finally bought a PS3. Another buddy of mine who made the right decision in getting his PS3 had a hardware problem a couple of months after he got it. He sent it to Sony for a replacement on the Thursday before the weekend. He received his replacement and an apology letter the following Monday morning. I apologize but I absolutely despise the 360 and everything about it. Also, Blu-ray is where it's at now, so why not upgrade to a better system that can ALSO play the best technology in movies. Just saying. Oh yea, PSN(Playstation Network) is free, you don't have to pay for a subscription to play online, you just have to plug in your ethernet cable.
Now, back to the original topic at hand. I've had the same problem a couple of times. As annoying as it is, you basically have to go through every single line and re-edit them so that Gill isn't on two different pairings etc etc. It does sound that your game is being rather retarded, but that's the way I fix it.

Exactly. Sometimes if the CPU edits the lines automatically it can be a bit stupid and put defensemen on forward lines etc.

V Carter,
I have a 360, and it works better than any playstation I have ever had. The Red Ring of Death or whatever is something that was a major glitch when the 360 first came out. They fixed it its a good deal. I actually got the Red Ring a few days ago during a storm. But, I waited till after the storm was over, turned it on, and it worked just fine.
I misunderstood the NHL 08 glitch that the guy was having. i actually had the same thing go on with my teams for the 360. And the advice you guys gave him is correct.
And look, I gave him the information for future considerations... not an immediate alternative.
